Has anyone swapped an XJ steering column into a CJ? Anything problems I should know about?

TIA

You'll need to get the wiring from the XJ to mate the harness connectors to your CJ. The dash support will also need to move. Might be better off going with a 80's GM sedan. I've heard those bolt in.

for reasons I won't explain in detail, a wiring harness from a 94 YJ (relatively identical to an XJ) directly plugged into a steering column from an 83 CJ. no splicing and the coneectors were a prefect snap-in fit. I'd trial fit it before hacking the harness.

they are both chevy style columns so the harness wont be a problem, but the length from the bolts on those shims to the firewall needs to be pretty close

Mine came from an early XJ ( before the strecth for inline 6 I guess) and its within an inch of the factory CJ5 column length.

and it has tilt, and cruise, and all teh more modern column type stuff!

the splined end isnt the same tho, got some cutting and welding to do there.
