: Leaky Allied locks?

Well, I'm not terribly impressed with the Allieds so far. Right off the bat before even getting out of the shop, one of them kept leaking- tore it down and there was a pinhole in the weld. Gooped it up, good to go.
Yesterday I went out all day and aired the 36 TSL's down to 5 psi, with all bolts checked and rechecked at 15 ft-lb. 3 different wheels leaked down. One went completely flat and the other two went down to 2 psi before I caught them. Also, one of the rear tires shifted under the ring and hopped the Jeep around all the way home.
Is this typical? I think it was the back of the wheel leaking, not the front side- I noticed on mounting them up that the Allieds have a very small safety bead on the back. Maybe the stiff sidewalls would flex a little and not pop back into place from the low pressure?
The 40's get here in a few days so I'll have them all apart again and check everything one more time.
I shoulda got Rockstompers, it sucks not trusting your wheels to hold air.

I mounted a new set of MTR's on my new Allieds then aired down to 6.5 psi and ran ProRocks here in Farmington with out the trace of a leak.
Maybe due to the soft compound:confused:
Plus, I never balanced them and can go 55 MPH without any noticable vibes.:smokin:
As instructed, I torqued them down slowly and evenly to 12 ft. lbs. , then re-torqued them again after 'breaking them in'.
Bummer you are having problems with yours ...

I've put over 1500 miles on my Allied beadlocks. All of this has been with 38" TSLs. I've run on the street with anywhere from 6-25 lbs. I've also left them sit for days. Not a single leak and when I check the pressure it hasn't changed from the day I set it. I also run highway speed and have a bounce, but I know that's because I didn't balance my 38's at all.

I ran them for the first 100 miles then re-torqued. Then 200 more and re-torque. Then 300 more and re-torque. Now I re-torque every 400 miles and have only 1-2 bolts loose per wheel. An important thing is that you torque each bolt multiple times on the initial install. I torqued mine about 5 times on the initial install. I've seen your rig so I'm sure you did that, but just for anyone else here.

I would call about the pin-hole in the weld though. That's BS. They are cool and will send you a new one. I had a slight bend from UPS in one rim and Allied replaced it. About the safety bead- I didn't notice it was small and after having to dismount a tire off it for the replacement rim, I willm say that I think it holds fine:D (read that as "it wasn't easy to un-seat")

I've had my allieds for a few months now, no leak downs no problems. I typically run 5 psi on my TSX 35x15.50x15 swampers

With about 500 street miles and about 100 trail miles, I've had no problems with mine. I've checked the torque on the bolts three times so far. Only the first time did I find any that were loose.

I'll have to go play around @ low air pressure and see if I can find where they're leaking from. I heard them hissing a few times yesterday. Bigdude, right, they're definitely torqued correctly. In fact, when they first showed up I torqued different wheels to 12,13,14,15 ft-lbs since that's the spec range. The one at 15 had 1 of 128 bolts loose, the one at 12 half were loose, and so on.
Must be just my luck.

I've got Allied beadlocks also.
No leaking problems here.

Guessing from your description it sounds like you are loosing air from the inner bead. Are you rims reversed?
It's common for newly mounted tires to more easily loose a bead.
Perhaps the tires need a little time to glue themselves to the new wheels:rolleyes:

My wheels are 15x10 with 37/13 boggers and i ran mine for about 500 miles before running them on the Rubicon at 5psi with no problems

No leaks here, give them a call. I had a problem with a bead and they were great to work with.

Problem seems to be solved. I mounted up the 39.5 TSL's and used Safety Seal on both sealing faces of all wheels. It's kind of a liquid rubber stuff we use to seal corroded aluminum wheels from bead leaks.
Ran 'em at 5 psi yesterday thru some really rough terrain, no leaks.
