Building a 67 Bronco with full width axles and full hydro steering. Due to the single ended ram, the factory pump tank does not have enough capacity. I have alredy considered extending the tank with a piece of rubber hose and another "cap" section from another pump, but theres no way that will fit under the hood on this rig. My thought was to totally remove the integrated tank from the pump, tap the fluid intake port on the pump body for a barbed nipple that would feed from a remote holding tank mounted on the firewall. After pulling the factory holding tank from a spare pump, the plan looks workable other than I noticed a tiny hole in the pump casting that I dont know what it's purpose is- I am thinking it must be a passage for pressure overload to feed back to the holding tank??? Anybody know this for shure??
If thats the case, I guess my idea wont work.

Option #2 would be to expand onto the original tank fill neck off to the side instead of vertically- any suggestions as to what would work here- epoxy?? JB Weld??

I had the same problem with the hood height restrictions when I extended mine with a hose, so I used an S shaped hose that fits off to the side. Holds more fluid horizontally than vertical.
