I would also like to thank Dave Cole for inviting us to his house on sat night
for the bbq at his house, lots of fun thanks Dave !! :smokin:

We all meet up at the post office and ran from the bottom of dish pan, played on the waterfall, Scott from Sterlin Rovers put on a show for us
with 2 blow beeds and leaning on his side for a while, got him on all fours,

Took the group over to Holcolm for lunch, where we ran into Jon Bundrant
and Sarah from ALLPRO, Marlin and Big Mike, Whaytt and Jason from Demello
Offroad, were coming off of Holcolm, so that was really kool to hang with these guys, they were checking out rigs, talking to everyone, answering questions, made for a really great day.

Had a great time, I was near the back of the pack on Saturday, so only saw the front runners when we all stopped for an obstacle or lunch. I think we had something like 20 vehicles on Saturday. I know it took some walking to get to the front of the line. Progress was pretty good for so many vehicles.

Many thanks to Dave for hosting many of us at his pad Friday night even though he had not seen his family for about 30 days!! That is dedication! Also thanks for the great spotting and recovery efforts. Heck, you even schooled me in my own rig. :p

Donald, a big thanks for meeting up with folks and leading the trail! You did great, and kept it smooth running. What happened to you on Sunday? We hung out for you for about an hour. While waiting we picked up a Freshly SAS'd 4 runner and he ended up tagging along with us for Gold Mtn. With all of the rain that had already hit that side of Big Bear the trail was pretty fun. No dust, and tougher then normal. The views from the top were very nice. By the time we hit the end of the trail we had heavy monsoon like rains coming down. Too bad I didn't have anything but a mesh roof with me. That was a cold wet drive back to Arrowhead.

Got to get to work, but will work on the photos later today.

Wayne,
Real sorry I missed you guys on Sunday. Just too much stuff going on. Tired from Sat, nephews spent the night, TV broke so I had that all apart.:mad3:

Had a great time on Fri night/Sat though. Awesome meeting everybody. Didn't really get any pics.:(

I would like to also say thanks to Dave and his wife for having us. Thanks to Don for the great job of getting all those rigs through on Sat. Thanks to Wayne for orginizing the trip, leading us over Gold mountain on Sun., and getting us back to our tow rigs. I think Lake Arrowhead was harder to navigate then the trails were, at least most of the trails were marked. It was nice to camp on the trails, I don't get to do that enough. It was nice meeting everyone, we had a great time.

Mark, I'm really glad you attended. You have a great family going there. Really enjoyed chatting with you and watching the kids play around. I totally agree with the Arrowhead road situation. For those that don't know, Dave's house is at the end of a crazy maze of little twisty roads, and these guys were driving big diesels with trailers. It was interesting watching them try and flip a U-turn at the end of the street last night.

We will have to fix our buggies and take them out next time. :D

Thats my red Jimmy behind troy. I had a great time wheelin and meeting everyone. Too bad I had to break off and take the kids home. Thanks to Troy, my wife now wants a Toyota truck/buggy. Cool with me. Looking foreward to the next "Trail run". And by the way Troy, I want those tie rods since they didn't get used. How much?

I missed ya Sunday. Give me a ring next time you go and we'll hook up. It was a nice Sunday drive.

Will be going up sometime next month for a little trail work. The club had just closed off a side trail a month ago, and someone has already breached the road blocks. :mad3: (This route goes no where and only creates erosion problems and feeds the environmental movement to close the entire trail.) The breach:

So if you don't mind a little work with your play... Other wise the next trip will be Calico. :D

Marlin and I took the Crawler Truck up to hang out with the All Pro Off Road and Demello group along with members from TTORA. It was my first time running trails above Big Bear, and dispite traveling far and wide to cover the distance inbetween rock gardens, we had a blastie. A bit dusty for half doors.

I took a lot of pictures that I will upload a bit later. Thanks to Demello Offroad for inviting us, they are an amazing group of guys who are very enjoyable to be around! That pizza parlor at Lake Arrowhead is the bomb! Very good pizza and a great view of the lake to boot

Check out this really cool video of Marlin "Walking the Crawler":

I was trying to figure out why I saw Marlin's truck rolling through Hesperia on sat night. I thought, gee he is a long way from home w/o a trailer.

I see that truck 2-3 times a year in random places on the freeway. I was due!

Time to start planning the Calico trip.. :grinpimp:

I think I'll start a new thread for that one as this thread is a mess as it is. The good news is that one is actually easier to plan as I already have maps and details from previous trips.

if your running John Bull backwards its not really that hard to get in there !

from the east to west way

now i used my right side door, door post, and allpro flat bed to get in there,
always nice to get that your gonna roll at any time feeling

was with Rocksurfer one time when he tired another alternate way in there
and ended up gettin the winch out

right on the other side of that huge rock is a really great view of the hammers
make sure if you get to that point you walk over there and get a gander
it's like a straight drop off
