I'm currently looking to swap out my TTB and put in a Dana 60.
What years are the best for this swap?
What other parts will i need to complete the swap?
What should i look for in the axle before buying it?
Currently I'm looking at a 1985, 1989, 1991, 1993, and 1995.
The 85 i'd have to put back together, the 89 is two axles for the price of one because one's a donor parts axle, and the 91 is complete, as are the 93 and 95 but the 93-95 are $200 more.
Thanks

Um, for one learn how to SEARCH.
Pirate has a shit load of info in it, find it, use it, shut the fuck up.
Google also has information. Both are now FREE, so try that.:shaking:

i gotta agree here....its an easy swap. VERY simple, search...i just posted in a thread about this on another site the other day even
just find what perch width each axles are, and weigh out the benifits of kingpins vs. price and see what works for you.

actually...it was your thread...
here, again.
Are you kidding me?? Kingpins are MUCH more desireable than balljointed axles. Kingpins last probably 4x as long and handle much larger tires.. The only reason they changed was for faster, less painful replacements (much like going from servicable bearings to unit bearings). Kingpins are a pain in the *** to change, but most you will find right now from a 79 or so, are just now needing a replacement.
If you are doing a swap, kingpins are the way to go....but generally go for about $400 more. (78-79 D60 Kingpins being the most desirable for most ~ $1200 (perch width too narrow), 86 to 91 ~ $1000 (this is the one you will want most), balljointed 92-97 ~$800 (will also work), balljointed and unit bearinged 99-04 ~$600 )perch width too wide), 05 + 35 spline ~$800 (no perches))
Just my values of the axles...but yes, that axle should swap right in if you have an F250...youll just need "T" steering rather than "Y", and youll have to get a trac bar bracket and trac bar from an F350 in your year.
Id also recommend F350 leafs....F350 leafs have a softer spring rate, so that will help the ride out. F250 leafs are stiffer to account for the leverage of the TTB.
