: Quick measurement please!!! (dana44)
ASTAR 07-28-2007, 03:27 PM I need to know the measurement on a 78 F-250 front HP44 from where the "C"s weld on to the axle tubes. How wide is that overall?
Please post that measurement and what your axle width is WMS-WMS.
Thanks a lot!
Zebrafive 07-28-2007, 08:55 PM F250 Have leave springs, so spring perchs, not "C"s
GMCTruxrule 07-28-2007, 09:50 PM ummm...I think he was talking about the distance from the inner C's on each end of the axle tube, the C's that the knuckle and balljoints attach to.

I think you are right, he didn't say Radius Arm C's
I couldn't hold the tape by myself in the dark & a flashlight, looks like 50"
my axle is a hp44 8 lug, guess it's 69"

Yup, not radius arm "C"s.
Thanks Darrin, could you confirm both of those measurements for sure? I am looking at buying a D44 housing but need to make sure. He says it is 48" between "C"s where they are welded on and 55" from the top of the "C" where the ball joint is. I want to make sure it is the 69" axle housing, not the 65 incher.
Thanks in advance man

OK, I have just a Dana 44 housing from a 1978 F250. Exactly what measurements do you need from this housing?
SeaBass44 07-29-2007, 03:06 PM Yup, not radius arm "C"s.

I get 55" center of balljoints
48 at welds & 60.5 to back of rotors, rotor to center rim seems to be 4" so 60.5 + 8 68.5, so I must be off a bit & it's 69" axle:grinpimp:
