Choate Dragunov style AK Thumbhole Stock shown installed with UltiMAK system. Buttstock mounts through rear tang with supplied screw. Also attaches to pistol grip nut under receiver with supplied screw and washer. Very Solid. Since this is a "thumbhole stock", the act of installing it on your AK cannot possibly turn you into a criminal. It is not the feared and malevolent "pistol grip stock" and therefore does not posses any known supernatural or evil powers, nor is it known to the state of California to cause birth defects in rats.

Debating about this stock for the one I just bought as it has a wooden Dragunov style on it thats a bit short. Any feed back on this stock. (riveted reciever Rommy ak)

Also, while on the ak subject. What is the best ammo for these things? I got 1000 rds of russian "Tiger" from the guy I got the ak from but, that aint going to last forever.

Barnaul is the best, Golden Tiger a close second. Good luck finding Barnaul though. The silver/golden/brown bear ammo is great, wolf works just fine as well.

Basically whatever non corrosive ammo that you can get a good deal on.


As for that Choate stock, if you really like the drag style, it's the one to get. It is superior in every way to that POS ATI stock, it costs more but is well worth it.

Well, the thing comes with a funky looking dragunov style wood stock. (read, no pistol grip and might not have the bolt or hole for it) I kinda like 'em though. Different look and feel. I think I'll get it.

I'm big. 6'5". Short pull is very uncomfortable.

I like mine 1" or so longer, but oddly on my AMD I like the short wire folder.

That reminds me, I have to sheet metal screw a FAL butt pad on my "drop" AK :laughing:

oh and AK ammo. whatever fires. I have some battle pack shit that I have no clue what it is that my AMD LOVES and puts impressive groups for a shorty AK. But wolf, bear, tiger all work fine.
