I put some new yukon 5.38 gears in my rear 60 and went to put the drive shaft on and the pinion threads hit the ujoint before the caps are all the way in the yoke. Got any ideas? Are some pinions longer than others? I've screwed up somewhere, but can't figure out where.

Sounds like something missing inside to me. Pretty sure they are all the same length. Perhaps you forgot the crush sleeve or some other mundane part?

It didn't have a crush sleeve, but I'm gonna double check the setup again. I'm sick of pulling that pos apart. I'm pretty sure that anything that would go in to make less thread stick out would have to change the depth of the pinion. I have the pinion/slinger/shims/bearing&race/shims/race/bearing/seal/yoke/washer/pinion nut in that order. I'm hoping that there is a such thing as a longer yoke. for a ford 1330.
