: ERoCC Check-In, who'll be there?
bigdude 06-10-2002, 12:34 PM The second event is approaching w/ check-in on the 21st of this month. If you'll be there as either spectator or competitor check-in here so we'll know to look for you.
I'll be the spotter for team 106. We have a stretched black TJ with typical competition goodies attached. I'll also be bringing plenty 'o beverages to the check-in/tech inspection Friday.
Wear a name-tag if you like. I'll have one with my login and this guy :flipoff2: on it (Syko's brilliant idea). See you all there.
I'll be a competitor. We'll see how much $hit I can break.:D the "plenty 'o beverages" sounds good. Just don't bring any of those wussie drinks.

No beer, just good old JD huh  :D
Plenty 'o beer, and since my girlfriend will be with me I have to have wussie drinks. But she makes up for it by being something nice to look at when your eyes are hurting from toploader4x4s "S-10":D :flipoff2: (j/k toploader:beer: )
mudpup 06-10-2002, 01:01 PM I'll be there hopefully sat or sun (just depends if I have to work or not). I am only about 45mins from Jellico, is it worth coming up there friday afternoon?
morpheus 06-10-2002, 01:10 PM i'm gonna pass on watching this one and work on the rig. I'll have to trust that Bigdude can land those planes :D
i wouldn't bother driving up there on friday afternoon, just some tech stuff and show/shine ...

Old Syko 06-10-2002, 01:44 PM Yep we'll be there if I can remember how to get there. Bigdude I'll introduce you to a good friend of mine Makers Mark then you won't remember the dogs name either.

Goto www.erocc.com
SpaceGhost 06-10-2002, 07:32 PM I went and read everything I could find, but didn't dl'd the entry form so maybe this is answered there. These Q's are for the Legends class. The only limitations I could find on the Legends was the 36" tire limit, and stock steel boxed frame rails and bumpers tying them together.
So, how is the tire measured since I assume it isn't the mfg's stamped size?
What about wheelbase? Anything goes?
Roll bar material of .120" and 1.5" mins. How is this determined, are they gonna be drilling holes in my cage?
The 3 spreaders or metal cover over driver. How thick must it be? I have 2 spreaders and the side bars, is this 2 or 4? I assume 2, hence the previous question.
Is the same exact course used for both classes?
Thanks to all who have the real dope on this.

I don't do the tech inspection, but I can answer some of the questions:
Tires must be 36" or less, measured horizontally.
Class is not decided by wheelbase.
You must only confirm that the roll bar meets spec, we don't have the means to prove that.
The same course is used for both classes, but there may be some "special gates" for the legend class.
Let me know if you have any other questions.
Tim
jeepinchad 06-10-2002, 08:48 PM To elaborate on the tire measurement... a caliper type device is used. It is pre-measured at 36" (it's PVC pipe glued together). If it touches, you are over... if it doesn't, than you are fine.
As for the cage... we don't (yet) have the means to check wall thickness, but may have the ability in the future. I believe RRCA may have this technology at the next event. In any case, it's better to build the cage strong and not need it, rather than the opposite.
Hope to see you there.
BornInAJeep 06-10-2002, 09:00 PM I was thinking about driving down, but i'm not sure if it's in the budget. Anyone know how much it costs at the campgrounds?
jeepinchad 06-10-2002, 09:03 PM I think $8.00 for a primitive spot. Don't hold me to that, though.
See here (http://www.state.tn.us/environment/parks/indian/) for more info.

Still though, how many compliments did you get on that bad ass name-tag? Also, for those who haven't been to Jellico it is a very small town with an over abundance of good looking girls in theri early 20's (not BSing at all). That one restraunt had like 20 waitresses that JeepinChad kept staring at:flipoff2:

You guys were so quick to get in there last time that you forgot to turn off the lights on your tow rig and trashed the battery. :flipoff2:
Hell yeah I did... with an overabundance like that, you gotta wonder what is in the water. Hell, I drank 5 pitchers of Iced Tea hoping to get a little of what they got.
BTW, was down there lats weekend... they have a new one that just started... yep, you guessed it, she's a babe.

Bigred, it seemed to me that, had you been more careful in some spots and cared more about competeing you could have been a huge contender. (You just walked up Little Cus and Table Top like they were your bitch.) Why the pessimism? I guess I can understand if you just don't care for the competition, but I really think that you could have done better. (Especially with a set of 44" boggers. :-D ) You brought me hope, as I am building a bigger rig as oppossed to those little weeni 37" rigs. :)

TrailKeeper 06-11-2002, 07:13 PM Anyone want to be on TV?
Just got off the phone with WVLT, the CBS affiliate in Knoxville. They want to do a feature story on our competition, but they want to do some filming on Thursday so they can do some "teasers" about the competition. I am looking for some competitors who are going to be in town a day early. Let me know if you are interested.
In case you are wondering, you won't actually be running on the course, we have some obstacles away from the course that we will do the filming on.
doctor_G 06-11-2002, 07:31 PM So what all do you bring to a thing like this?
1) nametag
2) cooler/ice/beverage :D
What all am I missing?
BAJG, drag Dusty and your ass on down there! Commawn, lets drink some beer!!

Anybody have a line on a POR banner? I can probably get permission to hang it on the Best Western.
bigdude 06-12-2002, 05:14 AM I don't think the banner will happen. It's too bad. We've had a few posts for the last few weeks in chit chat about flags or stickers. It's a tough sell because a few idiots ruined it for everybody. CHeck chit-chat and search for "pirate flags" or "Pirate stickers" to find the posts.
I'll hang my Jolly Roger flag up though. It's better than nothing.
oh yeah, TTT
jeepinchad 06-12-2002, 03:23 PM Hey Big Dude... speaking of Best Western... did you guys stay there at the last event?
Trail Keeper, Darell, and I stayed there last weekend, and the girl that was checking us in said that there was a group of guys there that had their lawn chairs setup and was having a really good time. Said she gave you guys a big discount because you had the right attitude when you checked in. Was that you all????

I heard something about someone complaining to the lady manager that someone walked through their campsite (jokingly), and she smacked a quarter down on that persons chest and told them to call someone that gave a damn.
Renee, that's the manager at Best Western, is a riot. So did anyone frequent Young's Spa across the street????
bigdude 06-13-2002, 11:57 AM BTT
Yeah we stayed there and had quite a buzz by lunch time :D I imagine it'll be the same this time. These competitions are like mini vacations for me.
