: FJ-40 for sale or parts
Greg Simmons 06-10-2002, 01:38 PM '68 FJ-40 parts car or restore? Hard top and Hard Doors are perfect, but the body is another story. Chev 350 Engine runs well and mechanicals are in pretty good shape, Interior is in pretty good condition. Comes with 3 33x12.50's and one 31x10.50 spare. Located in Boulder, CO. $1500 obo, very flexible on price. Greg, 303-413-1648.
I would be glad to tell the entire story of this rig to anyone who wants to here it, but the bottom line is that I need to get it out of my driveway before my landlord tows it and charges me.
Polarweasel 06-10-2002, 02:38 PM Dude, store it in back of my house! I'll only charge you a small storage fee...say, the engine and t-case. ;)
Seriously, if you do part it, how much for the 350 and t-case?
Alternatively, if you're open to a trade, I'll trade you our Honda Civic straight up for the whole rig, and I can have it gone from your place before the weekend.
Greg Simmons 06-10-2002, 02:57 PM I would prefer to send the whole rig as one peice instead of parting it out, although, I would be willing to part with the engine and the tranny/tcase for the right price. Some details about the engine are as follows: Edelbrock 4 barrel carb (I think it is a 650 cfm but it could be a 750 cfm), Edelbrock intake, an camshaft out of a Recreational Vehicle (RV), an MSD Blaster coil, it has never been dynod but I am guessing it is putting out a hair less than 300 hp. Also, I have a flexalite black magic fan that would go with the engine as well as a few random spare parts for the engine. The only problem I can tell with the engine is that the oil pan was dented in the wreck, it isn't leaking at all though so it should be all right. The T-case is a vacuum engaged 4-wheel and manually engaged hi-low, so you can put it in 2-low if you want. That is all, if you have more questions, just give me a ring at 303-413-1648 and we will talk.
Greg Simmons 06-10-2002, 03:35 PM I would be open to a trade depending on the condition of the vehicle to be traded for as well.
Mcstiff 06-10-2002, 06:40 PM I think you should tell um the story. Otherwise this would be a ad and might get closed or moved the the classifieds;)
Greg Simmons 06-10-2002, 07:43 PM Plain and simple: after finishing the jenny creek trail up above rollinsville, I was driving back to boulder when going down magnolia road the brakes failed on the cruiser. I downshifted as far as I could, which isn't very far on a 3 speed, and then, I killed the engine in hopes that that would slow me down. Well that worked until the hill got a lot steeper and there was a switchback coming up . . . So, at this point, I calculated the risks of where I could shoot the cruiser so that my passenger and I would live. I spun the car into the gaurd rail and we did (according to the state trooper) 1.5 rolls down the embankment. When we hit the gaurdrail, my forehead hit the windshield on the passenger side. (This afternoon I removed the rest of the windshield wearing thick leather gloves) We came to rest upright which really doesn't make any sense after one and a half rolls, but oh well. Anyway, my passenger and I scrambled up the hill (My forehead was bleeding profusely at this point, the plastic surgeon called it scalping) and we flagged down our surprised friends who were following us in their Heep. They rushed me to the hospital, my passenger was not hurt at all (thank God for 6-point cages) and I now have 40 some stitches in my forehead.
Yesterday, I went up and helped the tow truck pull the rig out, and he dropped it in my driveway here in Boulder where it currently sits waiting to find out what its future will be. I have contemplated taking it back home to Washington with me this Christmas, but that is a long ways off and I would not be able to begin working on the car for at least another 2 years. I don't think my parents would be too happy with it sitting in the garage.
So, I would love to find somebody to take it off my hands, and while I would like to get $1500 for it, I realize that that is not a terribly realistic price, and for that reason I am very flexible on the price.
And that is the story behind the most recent events of my cruiser.
hook me up with a couple picts and we can go from there...

Greg Simmons 06-11-2002, 10:00 AM There are some pics of it from before the wreck in the for sale section of this bulletin board, and there will be some of the majority of the damage on later today.
