I've got the PS box off of a donor truck ('79 F-250 4wd) that I pulled the D60 axles. Is it good for any conversions out there? I've got an EB, but just curious if it is worth anything.

It should work for your EB, But you will need the 2wd sector shaft installed in it to make it turn correctly. The 4x4 box turns backwards from the EB

Probably not great for an EB, big and bolts to the inside of the frame, probably hit the radiator. They are great for highboy's, as most have the crappy ram assist.

Sounds like it's useless to me ... I'll put it on the classifieds and see if anyone wants it.

It's one of the most popular for the EB's as said, when you change the worm gear from a 2wd box it mounts outboard and spins the correct way. You should have no problem selling it and should get around 100-150 if it's good.

You guys realize he said 79 F-250, right?
That box is way too obnoxious/huge to put into an EB in my opinion... I have seen a number of Broncos done with F150 boxes with the mentioned shaft swap though

As someone else pointed out to me, that would make the steering shaft have to come in from the front if it mounted on the outside of the frame.

oops, don't trust everything you read on the interweb. I did not catch the 250 part but I did not know the boxes were different anyway.

Yes, it had a Dana 60 front & rear in the F-250. It is very big and I have NO use for it!

correct me if i`m wrong but for the highboy conversion don`t u have to have a 2wd steering box? You can use a 2WD box; a friend of mine did on his 73 Highboy. I used a 79 F-250 4WD box on my 76 Highboy. I had to hack into the frame and weld in some reinforcement plates, but it works as well as any factory built truck.

I could have used it 6 months ago. Instead, I totally rebuilt the 73 ram assist setup.:barf:

My highboy has had a 77-79 box on it since I bought it, cut into the crossmember a little, and modified the steering shaft, but everything else looks bolt in. Never even crossed my mind it wasn't factory until I had the front clip off and motor out for an engine swap and saw the notched crossmember. :shaking:
