I was putting the calipers on my 79 ford 60 and was wondering were the piece pictured would go on the picture of the caliper. never disasembled or reasembalde these style brakes.

goes between the caliper and the retaining clip
it is basically a spring to stop the caliper from making ugly sounds

it's the worst design known to man - i sling those calipers off all the time - I've got mine tack welded and wired - make sure you've got a tight fit!

you need a spacer to take up the excess slack
I have only seen one caliper in my life have those problems

I've had the right one come off twice, only the wheel keeps it on, makes a terrible noise.:mad3:

I`m 2for2 with mine so i also tack welded. I`ve heard that you can get those blocks in oversize to take up the slack from the years of use and abuse

Yea, someone makes a shim kit to take the slop out. Try your local better parts house.

That goes one the bottom caliper slide. kinda keeps pressure on the caliper from clunking all over the place. Works pretty well i think, as long as you keep it lubricated.
