you could get a 6" lift from trailmaster. But who wants IFS. Go with the Dana 44 and a SAS.:flipoff2: :flipoff2: :flipoff2: :flipoff2:

You could get a 4" procomp lift or the 6" trailmaster, but if you're going to spend that much money you might as well cut the front suspension off and build it right. I have tons of info here:

I totally agree with 44Runner!!! Just do the SAS from the get go and save money and time rather then spending your money on a shitty IFS lift!

It depends on your "skill level", that 44 you see up there is currently sitting in my living room, all it needs is a locker and steering and it is ready to go. Completely rebuilt from this:

Whoa there buddy. Glad you are stoked about this, it is the right way to go in my opinion, but you really should hold your proverbial horses. Read, read a lot. There is a lot of info on the swap on this site and even more on tacoma territory. Many people have sites detailing it as I plan to have when i am done with mine. You need lots of things, that can not be found all in one place. You have to figure out what you need, then you can start "collecting." You have to search and find the right parts at the right price. This thread will give you a good starting point, but the rest is up to you. I know that All-Pro has a kit for this coming out soon, but expect to pay a lot for it. Their stuff is nice, very nice, but WAY out of my price range. Besides, i prefer the do-it-yourself approach. I would expect their kit with axle and everything to be close to what their other SAS kits run for with axle and all that. Heck, who knows if they will even be offering an axle with that kit. Maybe Chris will chime in and tells us what is going on, I sure would love to know :D In short, read, read, read. There is a TON of stuff you need to do and know for this swap. No, it really isn't that hard, but on a scale of 1-10 1 being cake and 10 being the most involved mod you can think of, I would say a SAS is probably real close to a 10. Off the top of my head you will need (the big things listed here, not all the TONS of small little pieces you will need as well): axle (normally a dana 44 from an 80 on full sized jeep wagoneer), springs, oil pan, IFS steering box (your rack and pinion has to go), steering links, locker (there is no reason to go through all this crap and not lock your new SA). Then you have TONS of little things that sometimes slip your mind like u bolts, shackles, spring hangers, gears (you have to match your rear ratio, probably want to change your rear lower while you are at it, i know i am), and the list goes on and on. Have fun! :smokin:

Dave

P.S. Once you do all your research, if you have any questions feel free to ask. There are tons of very knowledgeable people on this board that have the answer to almost any question you could think of. You can even PM me if you really need to. I guess the big thing is that you need to jump into it and research because what I just posted is the closest thing someone will do to holding your hand through a complete SAS breakdown. Here on out, its all you, best of luck!

You are a mean dude Ben! :p But at least you make up for it by making me laugh! I know it was long winded but I felt like I needed to help this newbie out. At least he saw the errors of his ways right away and didn't keep asking about gay IFS lifts. I say  to him for that!

Yeah, the dude at the yard was like asking me what he could torch off, and I was like everything! He thought I was on crack, I thought I would have to grab the torch from him and finish. He couldn't understand why i want to torch a perfectly good drag link when he was gonna throw it in with the axle. I told him I didn't need it. The coolest part was seeing the axle hang for half a second (the waggy was on a fork lift during the torching) by the brake lines before slamming to the ground!

Good eye, yep, its a 99 Runner. It rocks an ARB bullbar now. If you know anyone that had a fender bender and needs a neew front bumper i have the entire thing, even with the factory fog lights, will let it go cheap :D

I have crap (clearly) sitting around everywhere waiting to go into that truck. Axle, crawler box, snorkel, gonna build a new rear bumper when i do the SAS. Gotta wait until I move into my new place with the 2 car garage. I will then bring up my parents 96 Runner to drive will I am chopping this one. Then I will be done with that truck (yes, you can finish them). I don't want to take this truck too far because it is my DD. One day (hopefully soon), it will just be a light trail truck, camping truck, tow rig, DD. I have a full tube buggy all planned out, have for a while now. after I finish this I plan to start collecting for the buggy, hope to have it done within the next 3 years. Who knows :D

Look what this guy posted over there...

What does POR stand for, is it a jeep site or what? i always here about that place, im kinda scared to go there..

This is the first time I have actually read anything over there and I have to admit most of them sound like 16yr old b*tches who just received their first rig. Too funny.

My favorite so far...

FireDog: That place sucks, I think I registered there last year some time but have never actually gone there...

If you've never been there then how do you know?

Soon man, soon. Still need the locker, then it is a go. I just cut a 3.25" hole in the fender for a snorkel. That'll shrink the balls right up. Good ball shrinkage workout for when i hack the front off. You gotta post some pics of how the new runner is comin along. I checked your site recently and there was nothing new. If I ever see Benny, I'll give him a good smack for ya. ;) :D

Gawd damn!! It's an English Language massacre!

The U.S. Coast Guard must have relaxed the enlistment standards that were in place in 1978 when I joined.
That’s some of the most disjointed, misspelled, non-thought out drivel I've seen on the board.

Congratulation!
