You should also check to see if a 16 will clear the brakes. I have never heard of anyone putting 16" wheels on an H2. Why?

yes 16 will but it looks weird. you will have to go to the dealer and get the specs. i put 16.5's on one but it looked bad.

Hi Mate, Yes 16" wheels will fit the H2, I've had it checked. I'm in the process of researching whether I'll purchase one to replace my OKA and part of that research has been 16" wheels as I have $7500 worth of 16" x 37" rubber in the shed !! In reply to the query as to "why", a 37" x !6" gives you more sidewall and therefore more floatation on sand or mud but one doesn't need to increase the overall tyre diameter. It also means one can run lower tyre pressures and not have to worry too much about tyre temp as the volume of air is huge. My OKA runs on the 16" tyres, they are Michelin XZL. The OKA weights in at 6 ton fully loaded and will climb 40 - 60 ft sand dunes towing nearly 2 ton of off road trailer and it only has a 110HP 4 cyl 4L diesel, although it all comes down to gearing. The trailer shots were taken in our Great Sandy Dessert, the "A" frame parted company so I chopped a tree down to repair it. I was 350Km from the nearest community but with the "repair" had no trouble getting there.

Non Urban, here we go Mate, I've put some pics of the OKA on here. There are about four posts, this is the latest.
To give you an idea of the OKA's size the tyres are 37" x 16".
In the 1st shot the tyres are at 15psi, ran them at that pressure for 5 days across 500Km of dessert called the Simpson, dry godforsaken sandy hole, not one of our better Desserts.
The post of the trailer is a little "mishap" I had in the Great Sandy Dessert.

They cost a little more here in OZ than in the States 'cause you guys all drive on the wrong side of the road and it's got to be corrected !!!

Good luck with the H2! I hope it suits your needs down there. For me, and you it looks like, it all came down to size. The space combined with capability is what makes them so unique. Cheers.

Well I've finally cleared the finance for the H2. It's a Burgandy 2007 with 3200KM on the clock. Cost is $135k AU, you guy's in the US get 'em cheap. Can't pick it up for another month as I work in extremly remote areas and do 4-5 wks in the bush then head into civalisation for 9-10 days. Gotta say, looking forward to the day. Will post a pic of it in our bush when I get it. Al.:)

Hey Babe,
DAAAMMM is the right word, but don't fret it'll get used. The mods
will be a little different to over your way. Mods will be as follows,
get a long range fuel (gas) tank to stretch the travel distance out.
Hope to fit another 120L onboard. May have to modify exhaust layout
to do it. Get a dual wheel spare tyre carrier made for the rear. Put
on two Lightforce HID spotties. Have a decent roo bar (brush bar to
you) made up. Will have two water tanks manufactured to take the
place of the rear wheel arches, hopefully that'll give me around 200L
of water. Will take out rear seats and put in false floor to sleep on
and fit two full length sliding draws underneath to make gear and
fridge freezer easily accesable. Will fit satnav unit that reads
raster series toppo maps for outback travel but will change to
town/city directories when I'm in town. Then there'll be the usual
goodies like UHF,Satellite phone, MP3 etc.
Mechanicaly may fit a front diff lock if I can get one/if it needs
one. Will fit the tie rods, pitman arm kit etc by Cognito Motor
Sports. Will also fit 16" rims as I have some $ worth of 37" rubber
in the shed. Otherwise will see how it handles on the drive home
which'll be some 7000 Km. Should give me a fair idea as a lot of
it'll be on dirt roads and sandy dessert tracks depending on which
way I go.
All this will hapen over a 6 month period as I work in extremely
remote areas and cordination is tricky 'cause the H2 is 5000Km away
in Melbourne and I don't know anyone there.

OK now you've got the lowdown, will squirt pics though to here as I
get things done.
