: Locked None Shackle Reversal Guys????
This might be a dumb/newbie type question but……………………If you are running the shackles in the front and are locked how are you keeping bushings in the frame mounts? I have tried poly bushings, rubber bushings, putting steel sleeves in both of them. Nothing seems to last over 1 trip. I'm sick of changing bushings. What are you using?
patooyee 06-10-2002, 08:02 PM Something else must be wrong. Why would it happen in the front and not the back? Shouldn't the bracket keep them in?

66CJdean 06-10-2002, 08:13 PM I havent had a problem with them and they have been in all last season but the ram assist might be what is saving them.
SonoraBob 06-10-2002, 09:33 PM No problem here. I've got about two years on the current set. The only time I change bushings is when I change springs.:D
FULLSIZE 06-10-2002, 09:37 PM bushings? what are those? most of mine end up in my trash bag by the end of my trip. mine eats the flanges on the bushings.
I'm glad I can type "None" It should be Non *shaking head*
anyone else????
bigdude 06-11-2002, 08:04 AM I've never had a bushing problem with mine. I personally like poly ones with steel sleeves. Are your shackles a tight fit on your hangers/bushings? If there is slop in that area it'll eat up bushings.

I'm using those gay-a$$ extended shackles and no they aren't tight. I think I'm going to make a set of stock length shackles and throw these over the hill. I guess with the extended length/more leverage that's what's eating them up.
Thanks guys

My extended shackles were a bit loose also. I beat on them with a hammer until they were tight. If they don't work I'll just get some two piecers and then I know they'll be tight.

That's what I'm going to make. A set of "two piecers" with a bolt in the middle.

Never do for yourself what someone else will do for you for free. You must learn this principle young grasshopper:D.
Show and shine I'd say around 2:00 is when there are more than a few rigs there to look at. Bring sunscreen, we got fried last time and that was April:eek:
aaronlosey 06-11-2002, 10:42 AM my springs wear out faster than my bushings. i just use poly ones, make sure they are new, fit correctly, and are installed correctly.
