I am getting ready to relocate up in the Paradise area and want to know if there are any trails? I saw a 4wd drive road on the map down the road from a place we looked at today.

Also any good suggestions on parts houses and mechanics would be nice so I don't have to go through the trial and cross them off my list process?

If you live in the area and know of someone trying to sell their property let me know. We would compensate you in some form such as equipment or something so you wouldn't have to claim it as income to say thanks for letting us know.

I hope this doesn't come across as some type of spam. I really am looking for some place to wheel in a new town.

Check out bent and twisted's forum... Its sortof the local offroad board.

As for trails up here, there is a ton of wheeling up here... Things like ClayPits OHV and Highlakes... There's alot of wheeling to be had at Highlakes (even with the closures)

As for good shops... Bent and Twisted and High Angle Driveline come to mind ;) (both owners surf pirate)

Christ another faggy 510 up here (says the 925)

You might as well sell the housing chase, you already gave Brian the shafts :flipoff2:

Not anywhere near as much as before, I was up a few weeks ago and it seemed like everything but morris was closed. :( I can't wait for snow though...:smokin:

Just be thankful that you're about the same distance from the con and fordyce as you were before (assuming you are coming from oakland based on your profile)

You guys need to be MORE involved in the Route Designation Process, if you think snow wheeling is safe ! By being more involved YOU might be able to turn around the PROPOSED change that summer/fall has some closures, but OTHER than summer fall, PROPOSED winter rules have it closed past Spring Valley. Go to this site: http://www.friendsofhighlakes.com/ and go to the Route Designation tab. If you read it all, you'll be up to date, with the RDP and especially the very bottom check the maps. The first set at the bottom has the maps we used for the comment period, the day after the comment period closed, a new set of maps, buried deep in the site, and not yet with links, showing the "plan" that they seem to be going with. pay particular attention to the routes with S S S S S S S S on them, which means seasonal - specifically and summer/fall.

While you are at that site, sign up to join and help, and contribute. The site is close to being done, but not quite, but all but the "history" is done, and there will be more tabs to come. The important one is Route Designation process - read it all! And HELP.

You might also, check out http://www.trailfinders.com where the land Use forums are FULL of up-to-date and accurate information of the wheeling areas near Chico / Paradise and Northern California areas of concern WRT land use (and wheeling in general).

All of the local shops are decent. Each has their own group they more or less cater to, but all of them could probably set you up with what you need. Payless has a large inventory, but mostly caters to old-schoola dn bolt-on jeepers. North Valley does a lot of toyota stuff, again mostly bolt-on. Bent and Twisted would be the more extreme, with coilovers, hydro steering, link parts, etc. There's a handful of smaller fab shops that do decent work as well. MP's Custom Rides does a lot of nice early Bronco builds. High angle driveline is in Paradise, andthere's another shop in Paradise, with great turnaround times; Paradise driveline.

I have been involved in the RDP but not to the degree that some of the folks out here have been. I like to be be behind the scene and do my part and when I have to speak my mind in a public forum people will know I have something to say.

That Trailfinders site seems like some travel agency or something to me. While a drive to London may be nice a 6000-7000' snorkel kit to transverse the Atlantic is a little too much.

Thanks Wilson for your take on the shops in the area. I will check them out and tell them that you referred me in case they give discounts to you for that type of thing.

I did look at the bent and twisted forum and it looks pretty slow. Maybe I need to sign up but it is hard to follow so many forums. I go out somewhere every weekend and it gets to be BS to listen to everyone talk about how they can't go out or at the last minute their gf's second cousin had a boil and they couldn't make it. (Or other similar story)

You might stop by the Off-Road Center on the Skyway, upper Paradise. Pick up a High Lake Trails map(Free). Large Inventory of new and used parts(mostly Jeeps. Also you can lok at marked maps of the closures and Trails under study....norm
