i closed the bud built vrs allpro crossmember thread because it was becoming a pointless argument. if you guys really have some valid input on cross members then shom me a picture of the one you built.
here is mine.
note it is level with the frame so nothing hangs down and it cover the whole belly so there is not much to get caught on.
so lets see some pics of other ideas.
rear section detail.
note how the whole structure ties into the link mount to add rigidity to both the skid plate but more importantly helps keep the cross bar from beanding under extreme camo punishment

This is mine with a 3" powertrain lift. It never hangs on anything. the front and rear 3"are angled up. It is cross bolted through the frame.

no i f i remember correctly we used .095 hrew.
the next one will be .065 cro-mo tube to save even more weight and thin cro-mo sheet metal.
either that or i am playing around with a honeycomb and kevlar deal. kinda like a indi car chassis.

Chris Geiger 06-13-2002, 03:28 PM Here is a custom one we built for Jon's truck. It's based on our parking brake kit, with supports going from the brake to the frame. Bushings are used at the frame to limit vibration. Lots of ground clearance and very light weight.
