Anyone have any experience with their lowers? I have a local gun shop I just found selling Lauer stripped lowers for $125 out the door.
Or should I order a Double Star from Aloha and spend a little bit more $$?
rocknbronco 08-06-2007, 09:28 AM I would go with spending three bucks more and get the DS.
aloharover 08-06-2007, 10:26 AM Just to be clear, I am not charging him more :D
But if he buys from me he will need to find someone local to do the transfer.
Aces'n'8s 08-06-2007, 02:16 PM If one looks around, they can find DPMS stripped lowers for $100...and maybe a little less. But, I'm not giving those locations away. Sirch:p
However, I would support Aloha so he can pony up the cash to "rent" an engraver. :D
Jason R 08-06-2007, 02:22 PM Screw DPMS...!
I got my Double Star for $100/120..can't remember which.

And then I still have to pay $35 for a transfer fee...
So what about the quality of Lauer lowers?
And don't start with me about supporting Aloha... I just sent him $570 last week...so when you send him a big ass chunk of change, then we can talk :flipoff2::flipoff2::flipoff2:

Lauer's lowers are made by LMT, so yeah they are good. Hey Aloha who is the parent manufacturer of DS???
Most lowers are made by LMT, CMT, or Colt. There are a few independent ones like Olympic(poor quality I've heard) or Superior Arms(I have two of their lowers and no complaints)

It looks like Lauer has some built by LMT and some by Superior.... I'm guessing this guy near my house is selling the Superior ones... I think I might get a DS....(I'm one waffling sumbitch LOL)

Only markings on the receiver is DS. This only means that they do the final machining. I do not know whose castings they use.

Casting or forging??? If its a casting I would recommend against it. Personal pref. cuz all the castings I've dealt with in the past 4 years have been crap. But non of them were receivers so I dunno.

The Olympic lowers a lot of people had issue with were cast they are now forged

Sorry, meant forgings. The DS are forged.
Numidian 08-07-2007, 07:51 PM DS are made by LAR.
Turns out my guy has LMT and Superior Lauer lowers...but I'm just gonna get a DS from Pete anyway...
