: Rehash of the Dual Transfer cases....

I looked up the old posts for the Dual t/c discussions and just wondered if anyone had completed the custom work?

I have a divorced 205 that I am looking to divorce behind my 345+/727/D20/4:10's/35's soon to be 38's.

I have talked to Dooley in the past about his setup and IIRC he used a carrier bearing to run the front driveshaft forward and down to the front axle...in a SII will the 205 put the front driveshaft in such a place that the front shaft can be ran straight from the 205 to the front axle without interferance???
Would it bang the crossmember do you think??

Anybody have Steve in Moab's email?? (I'd rather clock it instead of cutting up the old one. Looking to make this a weekend project.)

Should I run a short driveshaft btw them? (Does the single U-joint work down the highway??)

Can you bolt a dodge 203 to a divorced dodge 205 with the standard adapter?? (I have a 203 laying around too....)

Will the cold duck setup work on Scout D20's?? (That was suggested in a old post... )

Here's to you.... :flipoff2: I know...I know DAN.... :)

Thanks....

Dooleys cut and plated the dana 20 front output so its now just a reduction box. His front d-shaft runs from the 205 through a carrier bearing above the d20 tcase cross member then drops down to the front axle. He used to run a single ujoint between the 20/205 then went to a very short slip shaft with 1310's. Hope this helps.

Tony,
Any problems with the D20 holding up?

Check with offroad design, I would go with the 203 205, much stronger than that dana 20

Hammerlock the 20 is fine and behind a wide ratio and 392. He is full width on a gm 3/4 ton front and 30 spline ff 60 rear. Dooley carries a spare short dshaft along with his 44 shafts and such. He has lost a few short shafts and regulary breaks 44 shafts too so that gives you some idea of how he wheels it. His most recent break was a 44 front pinion shaft shearing between the yoke and pinion. Ouch!

Tony,

Thanks for the info. I'm not surprised the d20 works fine as a gear reduction box. I wheeled with Dooley once. He has a cool rig and is a great driver. I'm glad to see he got rid off the IH front D44 he was using.
