i have a 97 ranger with a High Pinion 44 out of a 78 bronco. its a ball joint front end of coarse and after putting it back together the tops of the tires are leaning out pretty bad. the tires look like \....o../ the drivers side is not as bad as the passenger side. i talked to a guy at an alignment shop and he said if they were leaning out pretty bad there is nothing he can do about it. i was wanting to know if there is something that we have put together wrong or if there is some way of adjusting it

Are all of the parts swapped directly from the Bronco? No other truck parts mixed in?

were there shims between the spindle and the knuckle ? some are agninment sims ( thinner on one end then the other ) - if not, i think you can get offset ball joints, but im not certian.

my 78 hp44 out of my 78 f25o ( 8 lug ) is the same way with no weight on it . but i never looked at it with weight on it. it is not even noticible unless you are looking for it

yeah there is not other truck parts...its all out of the bronco..all we did was shorten it and rebuild it..new bearings ball joints and gears..i didnt notice any shims when i took it apart. i have heard of the off set balljoints..i know the threaded bushing on the top knuckle was not offset or anthing

You shortened it? I wonder if the knuckle got welded on crooked..

I betting you forgot the shims between the knuckle and spindle..

he cut an welded it in the middle of the tube..as far as i can tell and measure everything is welded straight. i dont remember putting any shims between the knuckle and the spindle..and its been so long since i took them apart is there shims in there from factory?? is there anywhere i can order shims to go between there?

did you change the ball joints? did they get preloaded properly?
is the toe set correctly?

yes there are factory shims, my 79' axle had them, I can't recall if the other axles I stripped did or not, I never paid attention

the tires look like \....o../

Isn't swapping out the TTB supposed to fix those kind of problems? :flipoff2:

(Sorry, couldn't resist lol)

I would say if everything's assembled properly, check the toe.
Bad toe can cause the tire sidewalls to flex enough to make it appear like a camber problem (yes, it'll go the other way like /---O--\ if you reverse directions).
