Guys, I recently purchased a Dodge CTD that had a recently rebuilt trans. The truck developed a leak between the transmission and transfer case. I bought new seals for both the t-case and the transmission figuring that one or the other was leaking and causing the puddle. Well, when I dropped the transfer case I found that there was a nice, small hole drilled in the transmission tail housing directly below the seal. When I pulled the seal out I noticed that the hole appeared to go all the way through and into a oil drain passage. Here's a pic:

Do any of you guys know if this hole is normally there in these transmissions? I'm thinking no, but this is the first 4x4 Chrysler 4 speed auto transmission I have actually had to look at. I suspect that when the transmission was rebuilt that the shop doing the work bored the hole all the way through to enlarge the oil drain passage and forgot to plug the other side. Without a plug in that hole, it basically makes the transmission output shaft seal useless since all the oil will pass through the hole below it.
Any thoughts?
