: should I pull the motor?

Here is my list of things to do to it:

Timing chain
re-gasket oil pan
pull & clean injectors
heli-coil exhaust stud closest to firewall
replace valve seals
replace fuel filter.

Would it be worth it to pull the motor, or do it in the truck?

The only real PITA leaving it in there is the oil pan gasket seeing how it is IFS, and I'm assuming stock suspension as well. You could remove the front diff, but with all that misc. crap to do, might be easier to pull it out so you can end up doing a full rebuild :flipoff2:

LEAVE IT IN!!!!!!!!

If you are doing all that stuff, have the head gone through.
while the head is off everything on your list gets real easy.
jack up the motor(after the head is off) and block it up to do the pan gasket. my .02

I personally would take it out. That rear-most exhaust stud hole is a PITA to reach, might even be impossible unless you have a tight right-angle attachment and a very short drill bit. While you're doing it, do them ALL. Sounds like you're gonna have most of the electrical stuf unhooked anyway, PS & AC stuff is off to get the timing cover off anyway. And having just dropped and replaced the pan on my IFS truck, it's a royal BITCH to get that thing back on with FIPG smeared on the surface, you get it everywhere. Even with the valve cover off, you can only jack the engine up about 3" till it hits the firewall (unless you have a body lift).

Besides, you gotta unbolt the engine mounts to get the pan off. The only thing left is the tranny bolts. These are easy with a long extension.
