I have a GM 6.2 Diesel I am looking to put in a mid nineties FZJ80 (locking rear Diff option). A green (bio-diesel) daily driver / off roader is the goal.
Thoughts on a source for the 80 series? I've been looking for one with a blown engine.
Thoughts on a radiator solution - the existing gm radiator is way bigger than the space will allow in the 80.

No offense but that would be like cutting your heart out and replacing it with an aquarium pump.

Not updated recently but there's good information here.

I don't know anything about the engine you have but I think biodiesel in an 80 is a great idea.

I hear you about the heart thing. The idea is to get one with a bad engine but they are hard to impossible to find. I need to find a soccer mom that didn't change the oil.

Dude that 6.2 GM diesel might just be the biggest pile (aside from the GM 2.8v6) of shite ever made. Putting it in a Toyota is just plain wrong.

Get a 91-92. They're dirt cheap and you can sell the 3FE to someone like TiredIron who actually likes them. :D

Brunswick diesel(australia) make a custom radiator for this application and also something to make the auto trans chnage at lower rpm.
Their complete kit is fairly well thought out.

You might want to check with 4X4 Labs, I beleive that Luke has found a source for Toyota Diesel engines (that come in FJ 80s elsewhere) and the source will take good gas engines in trade. Give him a call. 530-477-0140.

i would rethink it.
6.2 isnt a great diesel.
they have a #8 (i think it is) cylinder cracking problem, and just dont have any balls.
i would do a 4bt motor if your concernd about weight, if not the 6bt :D

Good info - if I can get some credit $ for a low milage motor I can pick from a larger pool of rigs. I'll call him tomorrow - thanks
