There are pros and cons to both of these offset wheels.
Pros:
wider trac = more stability
gets the tires away from the springs = no rub on the leafs at full lock
looks really cool = looks really cool
Cons:
Wider trac = more stress on the axel bearings/seals
tires stick out beyond fender flares = may be illegal in your state
look really cool = draws alot attention from local police
Having said that, I run 2 1/2 backspace rockcrawlers and enjoy the added stability and wheel clearance. There is no fender flare law in NC so it doesn't affect me. I bet 3" would be enough to receive the benefit.
As a newbie, this is what I have to offer, now on to the pros!

Typical fawkinŽnewbie question...:flipoff2: :D
Do a fawkinŽ search and maybe youŽll learn sumpinŽ
:D :flipoff2: :D
===============
Ideal wheel offset depends on a lot of shite...
- tire size
- wheel width
- axle width
- lift height
- etc...
Fill us in on these details and IŽm sure someone can help you out...

But seriously, the search function on this site is great. IŽm prolly gonna lose my job, Žcoz I spend all day surfinŽ POR...
Anyhoo, welcome aboard........

Most guys with Samurais are going 2-2.5" of backspace.
By far the highest demand ones we sell though are a 2" backspace.
Any more on the backspacing than 2.5" though and your tires are guaranteed to rub on the springs.

I'd go with 2" backspacing. That's what I was running on my stock axles and the extra stability and width is great. Plus, the tires have plenty of room away from the springs. I'm running 2.5" backspacing on my new wheels, but they are on Toyota axles, so it's a little wider than the Samurai ones. ~Steve

Even with 2.0-inch backspaced 15x10 wheels, my 33x14.50 Swamper SSRs still rub my front springs at full steering lock. A less aggressive tire won't have the same problem, though, as it's only the big shoulder lugs that actually rub.
