Very little mainly at start up. Head Gasket? Cracked Head?
No coolant in the oil as of yet and no oil in the coolant. Not running hot and I can't see any difference in the coolant level. Oh yea, I developed an exhaust leak at the same time I noticed the smell of coolant. Anyone have any suggestions short of tearing it completely apart? Oh yea its in the 4runner 22RE

It is probably condensation. fix your exhaust leak, I bet it goes away.

condensation makes water,not coolent..........

Sounds like the head is cracked on the exhaust side....

If it is coolant, green or red colored you either have an HG going or a cracked head, if is clear it is condensation and nothing to worry about.:smokin:

Definately not condensation. Smells like antifreeze at the tailpipe and puffs a little white smoke at startup after it sits for a while. I am not actually seeing any liquid coming out and I'm not noticing any measurable loss of coolant yet. Like I said before though, No oil in the coolant and no coolant in the oil which makes me believe the head is cracked and barely leaking into one of the exhaust ports.
Anyone have an extra 22re head laying around or know where I can get one in good shape? And while were at it who wants to come change it for me?:bounce2: :bounce: :crybaby2:

put a coffee filter on your tailpipe when you first fire it up and see if you get a greenish tint?? finger crossed for condensation:D

There are several good heads (22re) down at the u-pull-it yard here in Chico...I pulled em off since I was going for other parts...one was off a rebuild on a celica...That was a month back and 2 of em were still in the cars where I put em...
