: carburator issues at incline???
slider 06-11-2002, 07:01 PM Hey there,
Got the stock 1.3 & stock carb in an 88'.
What degree of angle can you guys get to before it fails??
Mine seems to be stalling the engine when I climb something like 25-30 degree slope?
Climbing, and Decending!!
Does this sound right?
Help!

I put a fuel pressure regulator on mine a long time ago, set if for 1-2psi offroad, it'll run till its past the point of no return, good enough for me.
slider 06-12-2002, 05:09 AM Is that a replacement for some part on there or add on??
Where'd it come from and what's the part #?
Is there a generic type out there?
scwafish 06-12-2002, 05:25 AM Aftermarket....but you can get them anywhere. The stock carb seems to work great for crawling from what I've seen.

Napa sells them, it's a generic, has a little dial and goes from .5-5 psi, I think it was $24. I plumbed it in right before the carb.
slider 06-12-2002, 09:24 AM I guess what I'm not understanding is...
Is it a restrictor?
Or electric pump thing?
What I think is happening is the fuel in the float is getting uneven in there and flooding?...hard to tell.
It does start right back up when level again.
If this thing restricts the amount of fuel in the bowl...I think I understand...
Scaw---Are you saying just your stock carb has been working fine at steep inclines?
dangerber 06-12-2002, 09:34 AM Does your carb have the vent tube upgrade?
Might be something to check...
0ILBURNER 06-12-2002, 09:52 AM Carb's SUCK
Dump that crap and go F.I.:D :flipoff2: :D

Never seen a fuel pressure regulator? It's just a little gizmo with in and out ports and a dial at the top. It regulates the fuel pressure down to what the dial indicates. By dialing it down you can slow how much fuel goes into the bowl which seems to make a big difference on mine. I remember one time when I fogot to set the regulator down, I tried this hill 3 times, each time stalling out near the top. Got out, set the regulator down to .5 and idled right up. Your results may vary but it works for me.
slider 06-12-2002, 10:40 AM I'll be putting the vent tube in shortley.
I have 1 carb in the truck and one out from a donor.
I don't want to shove that vent tube in until I determine which carb works better (all around).
I've always driven FI off road...the sammy and it's old technology is "new" to me.
I'll try the pressure regulator too!
Thanks guys
ZooMigo 06-12-2002, 08:43 PM I have a problem with my sammi, that if I bounce it too hard (and thats not too hard), it dies. Think this problem might be related to the incline carb problem? Would a pressure regulator help with this?

Rockrat 06-12-2002, 09:05 PM Look it's still running no vent tube or efi Rod knock and all.......
sorry couldnt resisthttp://4play4wheelers.com/RRATflop.jpg
slider 06-13-2002, 04:11 AM rockrat...
are you serious man??
I think I have carb problems for sure then!!!
Rockrat 06-13-2002, 06:40 AM Actually ya when i went over the fawker kept running I didnt let it run to long before i reached up and shut it down. I do have something going on with my carb but I dont drive it enough to let it bother me and it s nver realy hindered my wheelin but evry now and then if and only when Im in low with the RPM up high it just stops kinda like when your lawnmower runs out of gas give it a few pumps and it starts rightup
