AMC 304 in a 79 cj7
Oil in the breather. Hard to start, pukes out some white smoke when it does and wont idle right away. Does not smoke anytime after that.
Got a carb rebuild kit, my stupid ass is going to tear it apart in the morning and rebuild it. I might actually do that now so I have more time. This will be my first carb rebuild, but I have taken apart one on my old motor and its stupid easy. :shaking:
Replaced the PCV valve, dunno if its the right one cause it looked wrong. Anyways, not as much oil in the breather but still getting some. EVERYTHING LEAKS. The motor is covered in oil, so I don't know. I am used to it now, cause every fucking thing on this jeep leaks except the radiator and the front. The gas even splashes out of the filler neck. :shaking: I mean EVERYTHING. The intake manifold, valve covers, around the carb (fuel i think.. big red truck on issue huh?), the power steering, the rear pain, everything around the oil pan is soaked, the front shocks are busted, the MC leaks brake fluid everywhere no matter what I do, the rear diff, the tcase to transmisison joints. FUCK.
I'm afraid I'm about to hit a point where I'm just fucking myself over in repair costs. The point in putting this motor in was because it was $400 cover the $1800 shipped crate. I spent almost a $1k putting in in. :mad3: So I'm thinking, rebuild the carb, replace intake manifold gasket, replace valve cover gasket, clean up the motor and go form there.
Would it hurt to just remove the front shocks? They are not doing anything at all, I can bounce my suspension with my one hand and hit the bumpstop with no effort.
Real suggestions?
