Get the Vulcan from Trail Tough............how is your vehicle set up,gearing tires,t/case, and motor. What type of wheeling do you do?

Right now it has stock motor, stock gearing with 32*9.5*15 TSL's and I plan on putting in 6.5:1 T-case gears when I put in the new clutch. I do hills, mud, and some technical trails with various obstacles such as going over rocks and fall trees.

as awesome of an idea as that sounds is I'm from the upper peninsula of Michigan and there is no auto zone around. We have carquest, napa, auto value and advance auto parts so i'll see if they have lifetime warranty. Thanks for the idea though!

With the stock gearing you are using with the 32 TSL and no t/case, your putting quite a strain on your driveline-that's why you burn't the clutch. The stock clutches suffer from lack of strength, grab, recovery....etc. It's like sending a kid to do a man's job. Ask me how I know, because I have used every type of clutch out there and purposely destroyed them. The flimsy spring steel hub that all the current clutches on the market..including DF,PW use this type of hub. Over time with the centrifical torsion of the larger tires, abuse, reg use,... etc will begin to stress the hub. They start to develop cracks and begin to tear from the load bearings of the centrifical torsion,
The lining on the stock clutches don't have the coeficency to absorb the load you put on it and eventully give. If you like to always change clutches or change clutches on the trail by all means go for the stock one and get your free replacements. But if you like to wheel and enjoy the day without worries spend the money and do it right and not have to worry about it.

why wouldnt a stock clutch work well and last with 6.5 t case gears? it really shouldnt put any strain on the engine or tranny. i could see big tires little HP and high gearing burning up clutches. if you are going lower tcase gears i would save the $300 you would spend on the vulcan and buy a stock clutch. IMO

With low enough gears, a stock clutch WILL work offroad.

But when I say 'low enough' I mean you start up an obstacle with your left foot planted flat on the floor (not touching the clutch pedal) and you are able to just about stop to inch through a technical section... without the motor dying.

If you have to feather the clutch as you go through a technical obstacle, then you don't have low enough gears to keep a stock clutch for its full life expectancy!

[edit]
I run 5.12's in the diffs and 6.4:1 in the tcase. That is not low enough to run a stock clutch for very long in the rocks. I have run the same petroworks clutch for the last 5-6 years and I love it.

how about a centerforce dual friction clutch? It seems as though I can get the best deal locally with that. Talked to a guy locally who has a bigger motor in his sammi and loves his centerforce clutch and he is going on 2 years right now. Petroworks sounds like a nice clutch too as well as the vulcan. One thing i've heard about the centerforce is that it is hard to slip the clutch when needed because the clutch hits hard. Is this true about aftermarket heavy duty clutches?

I ran the "how about a centerforce dual friction clutch" with 462's & GRS1 with 33's for about 7 1/2 years before it gave up the ghost.
I have another one still have the 462's bumped up to 5.8's though.
