Anyone have one of those nifty little charts and can tell what the spec is...?

Same as any bolt - do it up till it strips and back it off half a turn.

German torque it.. GUTNTITE :D

Or, torque it till it smokes, then back off a 1/2 turn, as was said.

Sorry, very unproductive post, but fun nonetheless! consider it a TTT.

I usually use grunt specs but there could be a fair amount of stress on these particular bolts so I wanted to make sure I got it right...

and to those of you who were no help.....:flipoff2:

Mine reference chart for grade 8 shows 77 ft-lbs for dry assembly, 58 ft-lbs if lubed. Grade 5 would be 55 / 41 ft-lbs for dry / lubed assembly respectively for 7/16-20. This of course assumes sufficient thread engagement and that the material you're threading into can handle it.

hmm, maybe this means i have been tightening down my bolts too tight with my 425 ft lb impact wrench?
