My left rear light is having problems on my CJ7, 1985.
1. The left reverse light is either non-existent or very faint, usually non-existent.
2. Left blinker in rear is very faint, but there.

I have checked the ground and it seems good. I have checked and seem to be receiving 12v in the reverse light when in reverse.

Where could my problem be? It sounds like a ground to me, but I have checked four or five times.
Why would the right work (which is spliced off of the left) and the left doesn't?

Please help, need to get inspection tomorrow.
Thanks
Jason

Case grounded?? Is the socket corroded?

Definitely ground problems. The case grounds through the mounting screws and after a while the rust will impede<sp> the current. If this isn't the problem it could be corrosion in the socket or between the socket and the mounting plate.

Run a jumper from Bat Neg to the ground wire (If it has one) or to the metal lamp holder if it is a self grounding type. This should rule out the ground issue...but I bet it's the ground
