Meat and potatoes, does this sound right?

2.8 litre v6
700r4 transmission
np 207 Transfercase
7.5 rear end with 26 spline axle.
7.25 front end.

De Smog:

Also have done some searching on the engine section and have gotten a few details on de smoging the truck. I mainly want to do this to simplify the vaccum routing and clean up the engine compartment. I was wondering if anyone has de-smoged one of these engines and has a list or directions on what can be removed and not effect the over all operation of the engine. I think i can remove just about everything but the Vacuum boost to the brakes and the Vacuum advance to the distributor.

Gearing down:
Anyone Run a Advance adapters 700r4 to toyota gear drive case adapter. If so how do you like it? I'm thinking about going to a toyota front and rear end.

Thanks !

i don't overly hate s10's but i have to ask why you want to put all the time and effort into sasing it....2.8's suck.toyota diffs are going to be narrow, you'll need wheel spacers just to get them to work. if you're going to use leafs upfront it's going to be a ton of work to get a decent shackle angle.

The Toyota diffs are probably a good match for your S-10.

The 2.8 V6, the 207 t-case and the stock diffs are all terrible. Swapping to a Toyota case (or two :smokin:) and Toyota axles would be a good idea.

Wait, why are you starting with a vehicle that needs the entire drivetrain swapped out?

Maybe its easier to swap your S-10 body onto a Toyota frame

old worn out abused neglected 2.8's suck.... with the right cam (compucam 2020 or 2030) a fresh rebuild, high volume oil pump good exhaust, a couple more psi from the fuel pressure regulator and good gears... a 2.8 can be a truly impressive motor... over 200 hp with half the weight of a v-8. I could literally pick mine off the ground with on hand.
My buddy with a cammed 302 in an f150 used to get REALLY pissed at how bad my lil 2.8 s-10 would walk all over him.
Thas said... r4... ok but keep it cool with an aftermarket cooler and elec fan. I have an r4 in a diesel suburban on 35's and I tow a 6000 lb boat at 70 mph... It has bunches of miles on it....207 t-case... ran one behind a warmed over 350 in an s-10 for a couple years with no probs and if you do break it you'll be out $50 and 2 hours of work.
as for the sas.... yeah unless you absolutely have to have an s-10 keep shopping for something that already has straight axles... I've had a couple of sased s-10's and it's a lot of work
All that said... if you really must I have the brackets to do it with a front reciever built in... pm me... just bolt or weld to your frame and if you're gonna do it... don't bother with toy axles. get some fullsize chevs and go to town. A 208 t-case will bolt right up to your r4 and swap to pass side diff
