The difference between red and blue is the color of the label. The label indicates the rubber compound. Blue label is the harder compound and red is softer. Red is only availible in 37" and 39" and you need to be a competitor to buy them from BFG. The reds are not DOT approved and would probably fall apart on a driven vehicle. You want blue labels.

I don't know the best place to get them, shop around and consider shipping when you do so.

Chris nailed it. Just to add what he said the competition compound (red) would last about 250 miles on the street. The benefit is that they stick to rocks like glue and make obstacles look easy.

I ran the blue labels for about a year. They do a great job on rocks but the tread didn't really do anything special on dirt, which made them just ok on the east coast.

You can get Krawler blue label tires from most any local tire dealer but most of the time they'll have to order them as they don't stock them because it's not a fast selling tire. Discount Tire I know can order them with no trouble. Sears can get them too.

Are you just driving it to the trail, or is this a daily driver? Krawlers are definitely not the best tire to drive around on the street, there are much better tires for onroad and offroad use.

If your just driving them to the trail and you only rockcrawl, krawlers kick ass.
