Hey all,
Yep - I searched...
Anyone got any details on shaving a Dana60 (reverse rotation)? How much extra clearance did you get, what did you use to cut, did you weld on a skid plate, did you shave the ring gear, etc.
All info/pics/links appreciated.
My diff dude says he dosn't think he can shave my 60's... need some back up evidence.
Thanks from down under.

Yes, learn to use the search.
I suggest general 4x4 forum, posts by me, and shav* d60 for the search...
Also do the other two users the same way. Sounds like you need to read up on how to use the search engine.

Thanks all - I am at work, so have to do most of my searching under cover. I guess I am a searching doofus. I'll give it another shot.
'Diff dudes' are hard to find in Australia... even harder to find are D60's (particularly fronts). It's not just a case of wandering into the local junk yard - more like searching the entire country to find the one dodgey D60 and then paying through the teeth for it.
Gotta be done though.

I like your attitude ;)
Nothing more exotic to swap out over there though? There must be heavy duty axles over there? Maybe not the same ones we use over here - but hell be an innovator :D
What about Mog or Volvo Portals - can you get those?

Mog and portals are even harder to find here... if that is posible.
There are few other options... most of them are right hand drop or low pinion (I want high), and the big catch is that most of the other exotic beefy axels are very limited in locker and gear ratio selection. Rear's are not as bad as fronts - you can pick up a 60 or 14 bolt rear with some heavy searching, but finding a front is tuff. Easier to find a reverse D44, but anything else is a nighmare.
The guys I am dealing with now have about 12 D60's on a boat on the way from the US of A... think I may have convinced them that there is a market for this stuff (which there is).
Oh, and they are all cool with the shaving deal... next is high steer... need this to make my 4 link front work.

I'll take a couple when the funds are cleared so they are down to 8.
hehe :D
We do have some fairly interesting stuff over here but a lot of work required to do anything. It all costs at least double what it does for you guys (generally) and just think how hard it is for us to get all this shit working upside down.
