I think Snapon Modus has software that will scan codes on heavier trucks

The place I used to work at had a Pro Link that had a cartridge for the IH motors. You could scan and program some of the ECU parameters with the pro link box.

ya, but it blows.......
you can use a prolink or procrap pretty cheap.
i use the IH program on my laptop with the adaptor and convertors, works similar to my cummins insite program

what are you looking to accomplish? if your not working on them regularly its cheaper to pay someone to scan them for you.

Work truck, so cost is not a huge concern, but it would have reasonable. THe biggest problem is no one here, including the big truck repair shop has software for these. We have to drive 140 miles round trip to get them scanned at International. I would like to just get a windows based program for basic information and troublecodes.

you will have 7k in a snap on setup.
i boss has abotu $1500 in my IH software setup in my laptop plus laptop.
a prolink which is a basic code reader you can probably find used with a IH car for $600. you can get allison and bendix cards for it also if your fleet is auto's/air brakes.

Yep, we had IH, Detroit, CAT, and Allison cards for ours. Anything dealing with ABS (that wasn't obvious what the problem was) would get shipped to another shop in town since we really weren't set up to be servicing/fixing problems like that. We had Cummins Insite for their motors.

The pro link setup worked good for our application. I'm sure there was much better equipment out there, but considering that the company I worked for was just a body builder/upfitter, there was no need for fancier equipment. Judging by what you're describing you want to do, I would think a pro link would be sufficient. I'd shop around ebay. There seems to be several scan tools with various cartridges on there now, and I'm sure that there will be more going through as well.
