: Clocking the transfer case down, fluid ?

I'm trying to get my '75 W200 ready to go wheeling w/o spending tons of money, so I decide to clock the tranfer case down to get a better front d-shaft angle, and avoid an expensive 42deg. CV shaft.

I bought a clocking ring from D.D. Machine and it is very nice. I clocked my 208 down 2 holes and it looks like everything will work fine, but I'm worried about the fluid level. The fill hole is now lower and I'm not sure what or how the case is going to get lubricated.

Anyone gone through this before, or know something about the oiling system that will put me at ease?

You should have filled it before you clocked it down:flipoff2:

How much lower is the fill hole? I would imagine that it isn't that much lower than stock is it?

While it isn't the same case exactly, I've seen a couple of 231 cases run with very little oil in them without an issue that I'm aware of.

The 208 is lubed via a pump driven off the main shaft. As long as the pickup is submerged it should be o.k.

Cool, so where about is the pickup at?

I *think* it is underneath the front output shaft IIRC. Don't quote me on that however...

If it's similar to a 231 that's where it'll be. It's the lowest point in a stock clocking so that would make sense...

I've newer had my 208 out of the RamCharger so I don't know first hand....

I know it is that way in the 231 and 241 t-cases. I have yet to take either of my 208s apart either. I will be in the upcoming months, but I'm pretty sure that they are the same as the others...
