: trading in a samurai for this ??? ---->pic
Alfred 10-17-2001, 12:11 PM hi folks,
i have a 95 EFI samurai spoa, 4,2transfre, 31"s, rear locker (runs like a swiss watch, and is nearly unstoppable)
... and i'd have the chance to trade it in for this:
whats your opinion? the sam is my daily driver, and is zero problems
lots of R9000, rear locker, 33", winche, but a 85 and i guess carb'd ;o(
any thoughts?
thx
alfred
ps: its not that there´s something wrong with the sami - its just toooo perfect... and i would say its done (no more upgrades)

Deep South Cruisers 10-17-2001, 12:52 PM 1. Nobody takes Sami's seriously
2. Its a Land Cruiser (and a rare one).
3. The Cruiser is already set up.

#1. It looks way cooler then a sami ever could dream of looking.
#2. Because you want it.
#3. It will be new and different.
#4. Not many people have them.
#5. Long wheel base Vs. Short. (not that one is better then the other just different)
Now you give us 3 reasons why you should not get it...

1 EFI vs. Carb'd
2 know the history of my sami
3 parts availability and -prices of samis vs. TLC 75
4 95sami vs. 85toy
YOUR TURN ... ;oP
but you are right... damn... what an itch ;o)
thx
alfred
pd: i should mention that i am building up a CJ6 ... so the wheelbase would not be the problem
fcfred 10-17-2001, 01:13 PM get it now
there will always be other sammies to build but that tlc is baaaadazzz
mudmagnet 10-17-2001, 01:22 PM you people like to put down samurais..........don't get the yota.....stick with the sami, way better, more common for parts, aftermarket items are easy and cheep......now for the good things in the yota.........hummmm.....ahhhhh.....hummmm....damn can't think of any???? well i'll give you the credit on the long wheel base.....but thats it

You can always get another Sami later...They are everywhere.
gunracer1 10-17-2001, 01:56 PM you all might want to take a look at where alfred is from. i think the toy truck is much more common down there than here. myself i would jump on the truck but he needs a daily driver/trail rig so he does have a choice. i would still get the lc mike

Didn't put anything down. He obviouslly wants it. He's ready for a new rig.
Maybe he just wants to be able to drive over the obstacles instead of carrying his little rig over them
There, now I've bagged on the Sami!
40_Bones 10-17-2001, 03:11 PM Get the land cruiser. It's way more practical than the Samurai. It's a truck. You can daily drive it, and carry stuff in the bed.
dont they have straight axle double cabs in chile?
i say go for one of those if you can, or any late straight.
otherwise go with the toy, hello!
peace
sawzall 10-17-2001, 04:33 PM Get the toy 90% of sami's are a joke, maybe more.
Big Rich 10-17-2001, 04:57 PM Sami's are really cool if your like 5'5" weigh around 125lb.s and dont need to carry more then a six pack with you. Go crusier, and this is from a "jeeper". I fyou really want to carry more beer find a EB.
I say make the trade but not because I don't like sammies.I have a pu myself and wouldn't trade it for the world due to it's rarety.I'm sure you can get sammy stuff cheap down there as well as the landcruiser but the truck will be way more handy. As for you guys that think sammies are a joke BRING IT AWN.I will do anything you will then when you break I will fix it for ya and keep wheeling for pennies a day.For all you guys that think they are a joke you had better come up to BC and get ready for an ass cleaning as most rigs up here are pretty sweet.I admit mine isn't built up the way I'd like it but it has never stopped me from playing with built up rigs. But to end this buy the truck it's sweet.
Being one of the few people on this board to actually have seen/sat in a LC FJ75 truck I have to say that they are one of the most cramped and uncomfortable vehicles to sit in .
The FJ 45 trucks are even worse
The Sami has waaay more leg room
If you are looking only at Durability the 75 series are without a doubt the toughest thing out there
They will take the most unbelievable Sh!t kicking and come back for more.
I guess it would depend on how much "daily driving" you do and what the driving conditions are.
Rockhopper 10-17-2001, 09:57 PM Get what you want.
The guys putting down the sami and talking up the toyota clearly haven't driven a 75 series. There everywhere here, very big with farmers and minning companies. Almost nobody wheels them seriously, there a work truck.A couple pop up in long distance comps. The few that do go in competions usually ditch the leafs and go to coilovers. Otherwise you've got a 3 tonne landbarge that shakes your fillings out and then throws itself on to its back.
Yeah, there's bugger all room in them.
Buy it if you want to carry stuff or look different. If you want a barell of fun that's cheap to run and really annoys the know it alls, keep the zook.
