I saw an article in today's paper saying that the Cherokee chapter of trout Unlimited will be meeting Mon at a local restaurant.
It said the public was invited and gave a phone #.I called the guy and told him who I was and that I was wanting to know if they would be addressing the pending suit against the FS over the Nantahala(sp) national forest.
He had not even heard about it and could not give me any info.He gave me the # to another guy,who I assume is kinda over things here locally.
I called the 2nd guy.I told him that I was calling in regards to the pending lawsuit and that I was wanting to know if it would be addressed at the meeting. He knew very little about the suit and "seemed" to know less about the reason's why.
I told him that we ride at Tellico and were concerned with the possible closing of trails. He said he had not been to Tellico since probably 1961,but did know that they're are 100's of trail's there.
I told him him that they were only 10 legal trails and that people were there constantly picking up,cleaning up,and doing trail maintence.
He said that it was not on the schedule to even discuss this at the meeting and it was "highly unlikely" that it would be brought up.
According to the paper they will be showing a "back the Brookie" video and teaching how to tie some kind of knot.
While I am definately not the public speaking type,I woudn't be above going and speaking up if it was brought up.
