Trying to figure out which one...
I'm looking at a 19x27 radiator w/o auto cooler.

Anyone got a preference AND a good reason why? Tanks:)

The following links are only to summit but they have prices and a brief description of the radiator which really isn't that much help.

Howe:

Griffin:

Anyone know what is up with the funky lower hose connection in this link?

I run a Howe 19 x 24 in front of my 355 in my YJ.

A good friend of mine runs the Griffin (same size) in front of his 302 in his EB.

Both work for us.

The Howe does look very well made though, and is obviously fully welded, whereas the Griffin is known to have the epoxy.

For the extra $20 I think the Howe is well worth it.

BTW, that friend is a very well respected auto technician, who along with his father (also an auto tech...and a racer/builder since the seventies) were impressed with the Howe's construction. Their shop does numerous engine conversions...currently they are putting a 5.7 Vortec in an Astro van.

i bought my howe from summit and it works great and looks neato. only complaint is it came slightly warped . when you lay it on a flat surface one corner is about 3/16 high. no big deal i guess.

I have a 19 x 22 griffin in my ranger, it was $180 from summit, and I welded a couple tabs on it to mount it. Ended up cheaper than a stocker from autozone.

Is there any where I can get a custom size radiator? I have my motor so far forward that I am going to have to push the rad against the grill slats and still clear the headlights. I also have to be able to properly cool my 5.0 and find room to run an electric fan.

I went with Ron Davis. They are awesome and i fully recommend them. Cal Fat City and he can hook you up. 805-477-1306

Check out summit racing's catalogue. They sell "race car radiator's" from a bunch of vendors. These are all different sizes of blank 4 core (or double size 2 core from griffin) radiators, that you just need to put mounting tabs on. I am sure between the offerings from all the vendors you can find one that works.

Also, I truly believe that it is the capacity of the fan that makes or brakes the cooling system more than the size of the radiator.

um.....yeah....all the radiators mentioned are essentially racing radiators and offered in Summit's catalog (see first post).......

Here is a place that makes custom radiators for Howe. I called here before I ended up getting my off the shelf Howe from Summit and this guy was extremely helpful, and they'd even set up a radiator with custom mounts for you etc. Prices were decent too.

Paid $180-200 for my custom 2 core ( 1" cores ) rad. from Ron Davis. I'll bet howe costs twice that.

That's a pretty standard price and you get 2 1" rows!! Way better than that 1/2" crap:flipoff2:

Whatever brand get at least a 1" tube, I want a 1" tube with double pass because I don't want the temp to climb off the thermostat. I like Ron Davis (http://www.rondavisradiators.com/) , but Be cool and Howe both work,
I am not sure about the griffen just because of the epoxy
