So I just got back from the body shop and apparently the roof on the FJ60 is toast. He said they could patch the cancer that you see now but it would probably just come bacl later. Here are my options; I can try and track down an FJ60 that someone will let me cut the roof off at the pillars or I just found an FJ 62 body for $1300. Now the bonus of swapping bodies is that I am doing a color change on the body so i can paint it and then put the interior back in, the downside is I hate doing interior work. Anyone got a roof for sale? Also are there any differences between the 60 and the 62 bodies?

There is a rust free 60 body and frame w/ title in Texas that a Lone Star Land Cruisers member has for sale. Last I heard he wanted $500 for the whole thing. How about a road trip..........

You wouldn't happen to have some contact info would you? I looked on the website and didn't see it mentioned in the classifieds. Let me know, I have a few more days off and a flatbed trailer.

His name is Nick Stone 817 654 3640.

Tell him Grog and TP sent you. I have seen the Cruiser, it is worth the trip.

Sloan, if you need a co-pilot, I could use a little road therapy
Last time I was at Warden's, he had a few wrecked 60's.

Danny Warden probably has a roof cut at the pillers. I asked him a couple years back for one and he said like $200.

Did you get a second opinion?

I shopped around a little before finding someone to repair my roof. I believe several places didn't want to mess with it because of the fire hazard caused by the headliner. If you're willing to pull out the headliner it might help.

FWIW, I accepted that rust may come back "later" but after about 4 years it still looks good. I did institute a rigourous waxing routine for the roof and cowl. The horizontal surfaces get the attention. I lived about 100yds form the ocean and carried too many dripping kayaks.

I'll get some pics tomorrow and get a better opinion from you guys. What about using POR-15? I have no problem with a less than factory repair job because the roof is 6'5" now and witht the SOA no one except Shaq wil be able to see the roof.:D I'm also going to a couple of other body shops tomorrow.

I just saw it last weekend. It's red. I didn't take any pics though.
