Second ticket for mudflaps on the Jeep and had to fix it this time - wouldn't let me pay a fine.

So I spent the last couple evenings dealing with getting the parts and putting them together and then went down to the SFPD to get the ticket signed off. Went in, told the officer behind the thick glass that "the CHP said I needed mudflaps so I put them on and need a signature." With a smile of course. He said "sounds like a CHP caper" and asked for my notice. I passed it through the slot and he signed it off and said "I don't care if you have mudflaps on your Jeep". With a smile. So I told him I'll take them off. He said "You should - Jeeps look stupid with mudflaps."

Love it.

A few pictures are here in case anyone is curious how I added them: http://www.jeepshots.com/shots/projects/mud%20flaps/

I just looked at the pictures.

I reckon I'd have to try to kick your ass if I saw you driving around with them mud flaps.

Mud flaps belong on trucks with aggy tires in the mid west :D

Paul, I suggest you carry the mudflaps with you, just in case you pulled over again(you will). Besides you can use them to sleep on so the granite is not so cold.:flipoff2:

What police station did you go to?
As far as I know the richmond district one sucks.
The one near next to kezar stadium was very good to me.
My tickets were no mirrors and a modified exhast( which they fawked me with sending me to 850 to waste my time :mad3: ) All because the officer wrote down the wrong code, which happened to be a moving violation.

Seems to me mudflaps don't work very well anyways....

and why the fawk is everybody ridin my ass? If they'd stay back like a sensible person, my tires wouldn't throw shit on their car.

Oh well, we don't have to have em here:D

I hate mud flaps but I do have a set in my rig just in case if some lame-o-ass cop pulls me over.

riddle me this:
why do we have to have flaps when we pay to keep the roads safe and clean?

there is a kid around here running those big ass truck flaps, and he wrote "fuck flaps" on them.

the mudflap tickets are a joke and this post is proven. basically if you fix it, then no one gets anything out of it. especially if the cop never even looks at it to clear the ticket.

oh yeah and all the rock type spray fires under the flap anyway.

god, i could go on and on but i will spare you.
i think i have been stopped lik 15 times for flaps, and a couple of those are after i added them, and only 33's. :flipoff:

WA requires mud flaps to extend down to the center of the axle (i.e. the top half of your tire has to be covered by a mudflap)

What REALLY PISSES ME OFF is that I see cars, even a geo metro, that don't meet this criteria! I wonder how many of them get stopped for no mudflaps:mad:

The occifers that choose to enforce this law seem to only target 4x4s...what is up with this selective enforcement of a statewide law?

grumbling....more grumbling....(parting shot)dumbasses

I understand that in AZ, lifted pickups require mudflaps, but lifted Jeeps don't....is that true?

Seems the whole mud flap issue is discriminatory...Like I said before, people should drive a safe distance back from me!

It is descriminitory and it's bullshit. I also have been pulled over, twice. Built diso-flaps as well. Went down to my local CHP and they DENIED me. The whole fawking department came out, specially this one bitch cop who was exclaiming over and over "no no no... nice try. the entire wheel has to be covered not just the back." She was SUCH A BITCH! Snotty about it too. Laughing at me the whole time. If she did'nt have a gun... :mad3: Even my "well, do you pull over every tractor that's not pulling a trailer?" Fell on def ears. Nice. Assholes...

I paid the fine. But then again, that's what it's all about right? Revenue.

I've had 2 warnings so far, but no tickets. I'll see how long I can go. Not really a big problem in Nebraska.
That is some nice work Paul,...:rainbow: mudflaps, but nice work. I can believe the BS the law tries to pull.
I think I would shit myself laughing if I saw someone driving a built jeep like that with flaps on it, but someday I may have to do it.:barf: :barf:

I'm still trying to figure out, for when I *do* get hassled, where to hang flaps.

http://www.rockstomper.com/images/trails/indy/052502/MVC-016S.JPG

So far, I've been running it on the street (city, county, and Interstate) in Colorado for about six months like that, and nothing more than a buncha people doing their Exorcist impressions (heads spinning way way way around) as they pass me. Never even gotten pulled over.

I saw a guy in Moab that had "UHP OFF" in big white letters on his mudflaps. Classy. :)

In Kali the flap hast to be less than 1/3 the distance from the center of the axle to the flap. On my Peterbuilt this distance is 33"s so the flap is 11"s or closer to the ground. And a properly mounted flap will stop a rock from flying up.:usa:

on your last pic it looked like the mud flaps were quick disconnect. just leave them in the jeep so when you get pulled over you can say wait i can fix it now. throw them on no ticket. it worked for me when a fuse for my brake lights kept burning. if i could fix it there no ticket was writen.
