I see that 7.17 is available for D-60s
Can you run 7.17 in dana 60s w/ 39.5s and agressive rock driving; without likely pinion failure?

Fred Williams ran 7.17s in Clampy during the UA offroad and on the highway and didn't seem to have any troubles that I recall.

I rode with a guy in tellico a couple years ago that had 60's and 7.17's. He ran a tired 4.3 and 44 tsl's. He seemed to get around pretty well and hammered on it alot.

My buddy runs 7.17 in his 60s with 42s and he has broken everything on his rig but a ring and pinion.:D
A friend of mine has them in his YJ with 37s and a 4cyl.. He doesnt drive it on the street everyday but he does run it on the street and does lots of trails never heard him talk of any failures.

I have 6.16's in my buggy. they are Beef. I bet the pinion is still bigger than a D-44 3.73. I'm not afraid

I was thinking more like 30, bouncing off the rev limiter.

maybe in low range...... it wouldn't be that bad... 117 mph at 5000 rpm in high range with a .7:1 overdrive
2561 rpm to run 60

I have a set of D70s with 7.17s in a center articulating 4 ton NH loader. Broken front pinion teeth once in about 10 years of abuse. Possibly bc its not RC
