I am installing an OX locker in my 95 YJ. After several adjustments, I came up with this pattern. Please tell me what you think of it. Current back lash is .008, and It is a Rear, Dana 35. Gear Ratio 4.11

It might be a bit hard to see. I will post some new Images, later.

I always have a hard time when its not in front of me,

but I would try a bit more pinion depth, 2-4 thou , and see if it starts to clear up from there. Leave the BL alone, it should tighten up a bit with the depth adjustment. If it gets worse, go the other way, but it looks like you need a bit more.

New or used gears?

its not a newbie post and i do agree with more pinion depth the marks should be centered.

2 more thou if you want to try and shoot for center center perfection. Otherwise, I think you are pretty much there.

I'd call it good enough 'cause your Gears are certain to outlast your shafts now.... :D

:D I know. I will have a ford axle conversion (or better) by then.

I was going to get the super dana axle kit... But I am not gonna pour any more money in to this D35.

I'd say a pinion set too deep at some point or another.

I have only set up 1 gear set, so I may be showing my newness here. I thought in the rear the pinion tended to climb the ring gear and get closer to center under load. Therefore with a new set up you wanted it to be outside of center by a thou or two? Assuming the unlikely event the 35 with a locker were to live long enough to wear the center , it wouldn't lose strength?

Never heard of it from that angle but it sounds like it makes sense.

There are a lot pattern variations depending on applications, but generally, people shoot for center center as a rule of thumb.

Thanks. I followed your 609 build very closely and loved the tech there. After reading my post again, it would depend on high or low pinion. I guess center and center would be generically safe.
