: Interest In A 4 Wheel Coil Conversion Kit?

ScoutsHonor

Hey guys... not a plug here.. just a couple questions for everyone from the Scout community...

Who would be interested in a partial bolt-on/partial weld-on coil spring conversion kit for all 4 corners on a Scout II??? Pricing probably wouldn't be that high... not that much work to put one together, would include all the link bars, brackets, coils, panhard bars, etc...

Any other ideas that you guys would like to see as far as Scout products go? Will probably post on the BB too... but like to get ideas from the more hardcore guys... :D :D :D :D

Anyways.. any ideas you guys have will be greatly appreciated! For a little background info... we've started a shop and we're planning on catering to Scouts... based out of Southern, Oklahoma... some of our other specialties will be Rockwell axles... stuff like that.... and I just wanted to see what kinda stuff you'd like to see produced! Thanks!

It would be really nice to have a Scout shop that knows what we are talking about when we say ford coil springs and SBC 350, etc. I wish you luck.

The only problem I see is... Most of us Scout guys/gals are Cheap ass bastards, and on top of that, those of us that are into the more "hard core" stuff do our own work and live in junk yards on the weekends.

You might really have a new market though. I see a lot of "views" on our threads from a number of people who I know don't participate in our "controversial" little site here. :skull:

Yea you should find some interest in the BB crowd , but there are not too many guys here that couldn't handle it thereself, with a little help in specs. I didn't know anti squat from anti drive then I bought a Rover with all coil and started to learn the ins and out of coil tech. I'm still learning but it's easy to find the answers here on POR. I'm very impressed with my Rover with a 3" lift and 32"s and a scout with +37"s and all coil has crossed my mind more than once. :D

Do it, that way I can drive up one afternoon, look it over real close, and copy it if it works well:flipoff2: , no but seriously, do it so I can copy it. Or you could always use me as an official test vehicle.:D

Are you going to cater to 80/800's along with ScoutII's?

Yes, we plan on that too... I'll have to get a couple in here to work on though... I don't know of anyone locally that has one...

Not much interest here in your coil kit, but I’m sure the supply of D.A.N.’s that buy that kind of stuff is limited. Good luck either way

Heres just a few things we're working on right now:

Coil Conversion Kit
1/4 Elliptic Kit
Reverse Shackle Kit
Tube Doors
Cage Kits
Front & Rear PreRunner Bumpers (Also Winch Bumpers)
Skid Plates
Tube Fender Kits
Dash Kits
LED Taillight Kits
Etc.

All of this stuff is in the planning process at the moment... once we get our business fully launched we will probably introduce 2 a month... keep in mind we'll be building stuff for everything... but specializing in Scouts & Rockwells...

As far as pricing... I'm not gonna do anymore pimping of my shop on the board... but you'll definitely know when we're ready to release our products & website!

Kurt H upgraded to the heaviest radius arms he could find, and still mangled em. Drive off a rock like this, land on the RA with a big heavy rig like a scout or a bronco, and it tweaks every time.

Kurt, being Kurt, took a tougher line than the rest of us. It was a tough line, I'm sure the pictures from that attempt will grace the 2001 2Big Calendar. He managed to hang up his passenger side radius arm on the big rock. I'll have to say Superlift's equipment didn't look too sturdy here.

Don't mean to be speaking bad about coils. I am sure they work. Lots of folks run them. But, up here, with the heavy rigs, they don't work very well. Or, rather, they work, but are vulnerable to damage.

What I don't get is he seems to run his OWN fab-shop that, I would think, competes with D&C for bumper sales.. admittedly for HEEPS.. :D

Listen, I have stayed away from this board because of comments like yours. As a fab shop owner I am always willing to help out another fellow wheeler sell his product. I will never get into the scout market and I don't think that they are getting into the full size Jeep market. You can check them out or be a punk, but D&C extreme has some great parts for scouts including 80's 800's and sII's. It would definately be your loss. Yes I might be a newbie on the board but that means I am actually out on the trails instead of in front of my computer!

Are you saying that i don't wheel because I work on a computer all day? :flipoff2:

I had my cage made by DandC, I have dealt with Damian many times, wheeled with him a couple and went to RMIHR with him. I know what i am missing and not missing. He does have some good stuff, but I would rather make my own ( besides he is about 3 hours away from me).

Most fab shops that I have been to will fab for any vehicle ( why limit yourself, if you're good?)...yes Damian has done some jeep work too.

Street machine, yes it is my daily driver. I will wheel my grocery getter any where. You don't have to have a tube chasis and coil overs to have a good time or run difficult trails. Come down to texas and we can hit the trails!! I have yet to find a trail I won't try.

PS. I am sorry if I am not into badgering, its just not my style!:D

I hoped I'd never see the day a DAN complained about how DAN's are treated here in Binder land. I thought that was only going to be on the heep section. Oh wait don't you own a Heep?

Damien is a regular poster on the board (Snoopy) we gave him a hard time just as you, he took his lumps but did not :crybaby:

I think D&C and BCB are great for the IH community, both Snoppy and Fleckster are turning out a better product as a result of the time spent here, I think. And are bringing better products to the Scout community as a result of the time spent here.

I'm very familiar with D&C's product as well as BCB, even the product you make. BTW, I'd try to cut down on the overhang of the bumper, last thing I want is a bumper I loss ground clearance on, especially on a boat like the GW. For me, I'd rather fab the sheet myself then pay someone to do it, as most of the people here, take a poll to find out how many people own a welder and do their own fab work.

Now that, that is over STFU and quit bitching. Spend some time lurking here before you shoot you mouth off. Judging by the lack on body damage on your GW I'd say you don't do much wheeling. This ain't grade school wheeling, go read the Heep Mission Statement.

If you don't like the attitude here see ya. Don't let the door hit you in the ass.

Trust me I did not come here to find a girl friend. I came here to pick up some info on the scout I am about to build. Enough with the whining bit because you guys can't say anything that I have not heard in the past. I work in construction so trust me I have heard it all. I will keep lurking and might even ask a question because I will build my scout. It might not look like a scout when I am finished but the guts will all IH.

If you want to see the body Damage I will take some current photos it you like because the only straight panels left are the tailget and roof. Like I said come down and go wheeling with me and the Heep will speak for itself!!

Alright all settled, didn't even need

Not start a post about the project, so we have some new fodder. I'm only doing boring stuff right now, cage and tranny swap

As far as the wheeling, some day I want to make a midwest tour and east coast tour.

Hmm.. I guess my roof isn't dented yet, but that's probably because it's sitting in the sideyard and hasn't been on the Scout for a few years now. :D

Tailgate is FUBAR though.. along with every other panel other than the windshield - and the new-when-I-bought-it glass is cracked now from the windshield frame flexing..

Come to RMIHR - it's not that far from Texas, and you'll get lots of ideas. :-)

Nothing personal on the flame, just that this isn't Usenet and SPAM is frowned upon. :)
