Normally I spend a little more time searching, but I'm at work and I came across an opportunity to pick up a relatively inexpensive D60 tonight. But I'm not familiar with this model year and was wondering if there was anything I needed to look out for.

Can someone help me out with the difference between the 1978 Ford D-60 Kingpin front and a 1988 Ford D-60 King pin front? I know the axle shaft lengths are different, but is there a difference in the spline count? Shaft diameter? Tubes? Bearings? Etc? Is there any difference in parts availability? According to the BOM its listed as a D60 out of a 1988 SRW F-350. WMS-WMS should be 69.25 right?

Thanks in advance,

Chris

The shafts in the 78-79 neck down just after the splines.

There is no difference in spline count.

Except for shafts, anything will interchange between the 2. Though the 88's steering rod hole is the next size smaller

Your spring pad width is different. The 88 is wider than the 78/79.

Anything else, just ask. If I can't answer it 1st, someone else will!!!
