What are the numbers? If you can't figure it out from that, lift up the rear (or the front) mark the driveshaft, and count how many times you rotate the tire before the driveshaft rotates once.

close.... if it's an open diff. jack up one tire. rotate it exactly 2 times. count the revs on the d-shaft to get ratio.... ie just over 4 times is 4.10. if it is locked jack up both and rotate once.

Assuming the gears haven't been changed out since it left the factory....

UM what year and type of Jeep? If it a 4 banger you probably have 411s .

Click on this URL, provide you information including VIN. In comment box request a "Build Sheet" and in a couple days a very detailed printout will be e-mailed to you that provides information on how your Jeep was equipped when it rolled off assembly line. Information provided will include the gear ratio and axle types.

the tag should be the ratio, the numbers on the axle is the BOM. You can use that number to look up the ratio too.

they're 3.73's
the standards came with 3.07
all 4 bangers came with 4.10

Pull the cover and get the numbers off the gears. Divide the number of teeth on the ring by the pinion and you won't have to guess what you've got. It's probably time for an oil change anyway...

people this isn't rocket surgery or brain science...... this question has been answered both correctly and incorrectly several times..... tag says 3.07 that's what it is... other than that check like I told ya.... no need to pull the cover or send for build sheets (although that IS cool) and it takes less than 2 minutes to find out..... but please by all means post up with what you found out before this thread gets to 8 or 10 pages.
