I have to oppurtunity to buy a 2006 F350 crew cab shortbed with 20k on it. It has the 5.4 V8, but I put a few hundred miles on the truck and it seems like it will have enough power for what I'll be doing (daily driving and hauling stuff in the bed occasionally, towing 8k maybe every 5 or 6 weeks).

The truck is gorgeous- black with black leather interior, the "sport" package with the body color accents. Sunroof, spray in liner, FX4 package, etc.

My cost on it would be $20k even.

What do you guys think? The only thing I am wondering about is the 5.4 and the mileage/power on the highway (my commute). Of course I could always swap a Cummins in down the line right? :D

Let me know your thoughts guys, I have to make a decision yes or no within a day or so.

For a loaded crew cab, price sounds fair....yes, the engine is underpowered IMHO, but if it meets your needs and you like the truck, why not....

I run an 04 f-350 CC with the 5.4 in it. It will work fine for pulling 8K. I have had mine pulling 12K and it will go down the road ok with it. It not a diesel, but it does the job.

I get 14-15 mpg with it empty and around 10 mpg towing.
