I finally got my 89 F-250 fully legal and now the damn thing will NOT go into 4lo. It is a 1989 F-250 diesel with a C-6. I just bought it not long ago and its taken forever to get inspected. Add more money then i was expecting to get the wiring right (an idiot put the plow on it before i bought it and hot wired EVERYTHING) and you get the idea. I know when i bought it that it went into 4lo but now it just wont budge. I can get it into 4hi but when i go to pull it over into neutral and then into 4lo it wont even hit neutral. It goes into 4 hi fine though. Ive tried everything. Shifting into tranny neutral, backing up stopping then trying it, rolling at 2mph in drive and nothing works.

The short version. Cant even get the transfer case into neutral let alone 4lo. Local truck pulls are friday night. Am i fucked and gonna have to pull the T/C or is there a magic trick to get this thing into 4lo.

spray the shifter down the weasle piss, then try it.
If it still doesn't go, yank over on the shifter harder, or smack it over.. it will work in a lossen up.

Or, you can pull the gate block from behind the shifter, and then you don't have to pull the shifter over to get 4lo

on my 97 f250 you have to push down on the shifter to go from 4hi to neutral/4lo.

yeah my old f150 was the same way, you had to push it down and move the shifter, none of my friends could get it to work either.

the push down setup is on the 92+ trucks
91 and older you pull to the side.
