Well, just with a cherry picker. I was working on it, and measuring for front shock lengths, but realized how stiff my front springs REALLY are. they are 3.5" rancho lift springs. Shoudl I leave em on there for now, replace them, or what? Rear I have dodge duster springs, minus the over load springs. It is at dead stock higth in the rear. the 35x12.5's dont hit at all anywhere. What should I do? I also have skyjacker 4" lift rear springs, and a set of wrangler springs sitting around. thanks. Garrett

Use them for a boat anchor. I've got 3.5" rancho's on my '78 and I'm swapping in 52" Chevy rears into the front. The Rancho's are over 600 in/lb springs which is way too stiff for our use. 52's will work without compromising approach and move your axle 2" forward for better clearance.

I'm fabbing new front spring hangars as well as new upper shackle bushing mounts. Dodge used bushings that are approximately 1" in diameter. I'm using 2" O.D. tube with .25" wall for the upper bushing mounts and am making them for the common greaseable bushings ( 1 1/2" from ORD) for the rear Chevy springs. I think factory 52's should give me about 5" of lift with the overload pulled and with a little longer shackles. They're only about $75-100 a pair at any auto recycler. They come in 4 leaf, 5 leaf, and 6 leaf etc. I've got 5 leaf packs, but plan on ordering some Alcans once I've got the front set up like I want it.

i was thinking abour putting factory dodge 52" rears in the front, or some S-10 Blazer rears into the front (both the same size). that woudl leave me withthe same distance front the hanger to the pin, but 4" longer out back. Still temped to do that, or put the dodge duster rears in the front, and put the overly stiff skyjacker 4" lift springs in the rear. I dunno what I will do though. And the Rancho 3.5" lift spring rate is 502 in lbs. My duster rears are softer than stock. so, are you moving the front hangers forward, because I was going to do that, but my custom bumper is intigrated into the spring mounts.

i think it looks like it works fine for now. i wouldn't worry about it for now. the way it sits when you get some weight on the front(goin down into something) your going to have sheetmetal to tire contact. pick up the rear tire to see how the front springs work.;)

yeah, i think what i am gonna do is keep the current setup, then when i get a chance, put the rear dusters up front, suppliment in a leaf or two out of something else for some more spring rate, and mount my skyjackers in the rear, under the frame. And I doubt i will have front end contact.. it was orignally cut for 36x14.5's on 15x10's with 3.5" bs. Now i have 35x12.5's on 15x8's with 4" BS. and if it does it.. oh well, just more sawzall work.
