: springs vs. revolver shackle
truckdweld 10-11-2001, 07:17 PM I have an 82 chevy that i need to get more flex out of it. My ? is should i use the 62 inch springs or run a revolver type shackle. If i use the spring i will have to move the spring perch and i already have the shackle flip so what do you guys think. Just want to know what has been done before.
Weezer 10-12-2001, 09:02 AM do a search on revolver shackles, and you will get more feedback then you want. They are kind of a sore subject around here. I would go with the longer springs, les problems.
TripleBGirl 10-12-2001, 09:05 AM "Full size can ""get it"" too, we just have more to play with"..... I like that "TruckDWeld!!!"
Toy 4Runner Man 10-12-2001, 09:06 AM I would say go with longer springs. Advoid the gimmics, They arn't usally all that they are made up to be.
Hey, Kelsey, CA? That wouldn't be anywhere close to me?

RoCkSkuLLz 10-12-2001, 09:35 AM I run revolver shackles on my YJ and they work awesome! Tons more flex with no additional side effects. Id go revolvers!

Kensoffroad 10-12-2001, 09:58 AM We have revolver shackles on our 99 XJ and they suck! Go with the springs!!!!
scoobydann 10-12-2001, 12:00 PM I've seen the revolvers on off-road.com's potent rodent. to make it work you need to do a shackle flip w/ ORD or make your own and it worked pretty badass. i have the ORD w/ a "Springer Flip" and it works crazy. here's springers site, http://www.springersuspensions.com/ , and here is my site, 4x4.alloffroad.com (http://4x4.alloffroad.com) i have the camo oneif you need any more info let me know
Capn Insano 10-12-2001, 12:58 PM That potent rodent rig...Shawn, took his off. The springer shackel is a good way to go!
FRIZZLEFRY 10-12-2001, 02:55 PM I also have the Springer set up like Scoobydanns. Its alot less work than doing a shackle flip.No cutting or welding ,just a bolt in bracket.
truckdweld 10-12-2001, 06:30 PM what kinda springs should i look for for the best flex. I have heard about the 62 inch chevy springs but i dont know what them come on. Thanks for the help
scoobydann 10-12-2001, 10:30 PM me and frizzlefry use 89-96 ford 1/2 ton ford springs, there damn soft
AZFord4x4 10-12-2001, 10:34 PM I love the 63" GMs on the rear of mine... they're off 88 & newer GM pickups, I belive 2wd & 4wd are the same spring.
