I know some brainiac has the stud numbers memorized for the spring pad located on the pumpkin of a dodge dana 60. I called dodge parts, got a part number, but there was not description, and they have to be ordered. Anyone ever bought em new???? Got the number??

I just had mine made at a local machine shop. Started out with 1.00 CM round stock.

i made mine out of grade 8 bolts. but i am replaceing them this weekend with u bolts. you should do the same the because the studs are known to get ripped out of the spring pad.

Hey Aggro read Carrol Smith"s book and understand why cut threads aren't as strong as rolled threads.:usa:

The reason that rolled threads are stonger than cut threads has to due with the grain of the material. A rolled thread upsets the material and "packs" it into the thread. This material is strong and very tightly compressed. (i.e. forged) A cut thread is just that, material is removed through a cutting process, (die) and you have left the exact same material type as you started. No extra strength.

Keep me in mine when you give that 60 away. I have broken two studs and pulled two more out of the casting.

As a rule of thumb, you have to keep the bolts (nuts and studs) bar-ass tight. You cannot use them with degree shims either. They'll break. Ever find a 1 ton chev that's 20 years old with 400,000 on the clock with a broken bolt? You can still tell if it's got the factory undercoating on it too.

Ripped the studs clean out of my 60 too.

I decided a 4 link was a better solution than trying to figure out how to hold the axles on the leaf springs...:)

Keith,

I got the number for the dodge studs, but that's not what you need. You need the number for some stainless shinny ones.
Maybe just this once you could settle for just chroming the dodge stud. Call me..

see ya,

tony k
